If I get around to making those salt ornaments, those will be the gift for my side of the family. I doubt it is 'fancy' enough for DH's side, so they probably will not get a gift from DD.

We make some kind of ornament every year. Salt dough, cinnamon applesauce dough, handprints on card stock, etc. This year DS picked out a reindeer thing in Pinterest and made them mostly by himself.
We also make a photo book of the past year, and order a copy for us and a copy for each set of grandparents. I have no idea how much they appreciate it, but it is easy and it is also easier to just give everyone the same thing. I know my mom loves it, as she is ordering herself a second one to take to her office, lol.

Oh, also, now that Ds is in elementary school, the PTO has something called the jingle bell shop. They pick up random little stuff all year in clearance, then sell it for under retail. The kids can come in and shop with a helper. DS bought gifts for the whole family for 22$. If they hadn't had the school thing, iron badly would have brought him to target and had him do the same thing. He is definitely old enough to be taught the "giving" part, and not just getting.

We'll just do one present from all of us, not specifically from A. They're getting cameras for their computers this year, so we can Skype and see A more often. My mom lives three hours away, so I think she'll be really excited about it.
This year we did handprint Christmas trees for both sets of grandparents. I bought canvases at Michaels with their coupon for 25% off even sale items and then painted the kids' hands and let them make the tree on the canvas. Once it dried I had them make fingerprint ornaments on it.

For the past few years (starting at age 2), I take DD to a store and ask her to pick out something for everyone on her list (dad, her uncle, and four grandparents).
The first year was hilarious because she picked out the most random stuff. Now she actually puts thought into it. She likes to bake with Grandma, so she wanted to buy Grandma new cake pans.
Of course, we're also very likely to just put DD's name on all the presents we buy for the grandparents because that sort of makes it more fun. But maybe that's just our family. We also randomly write the family pets' names on the "from" line ;-)
My dad is getting a t shirt that says "just grampy being grampy"
Where did you get this shirt? My dad goes by Grampy and is a kind of gruff person, but fun and Caramini loooooooves him. I think he would like this shirt.
I just bought my Dad this silver frame from Pottery Barn, and had it personalized with "DS and Grandpa" I got my Mom a photo calendar from Tiny Prints.

Sorry! Just seeing this now I ordered it from this easy seller: www.etsy.com/shop/Rt66Treasures. I have no idea how the quality will be, but it came out to less than $9 and I have no idea how much my dad will wear it so I don't care. Let me know if you order one too! My dad is exactly how you describe as well.
