As I posted in the other thread, the St.Jude Memphis Marathon was cancelled due to weather, so I will not be running my first half tomorrow. As disappointed as I am, maybe it is a blessing--I have been sick since Monday, haven't ran since Saturday..still not 100% and it will be mighty cold tomorrow. I'm still disappointed though.
I don't want to get out of running shape or this habit. I've learned I have to have a goal and preferably a plan to get me out the door.
I am thinking of signing up for a 10k in February and trying to find a plan that will help me with speed a the same time (I currently run somewhere between 11:30-12:15 mile). There is a smaller local half in march I may look into...I just think it may be a let down compared to what this weekend would have been. I am absolutely planning to sign up for The 2014 St. Jude race.
Any thoughts/advice? Any plans I should check out for the 10k?
I'd find another one soon just to be able to say you finished your goal. That's important to me, may not be to you though. Maybe look for one a little further south that you don't mind traveling to.
Personally, I just had to back out of my first half (which may be cancelled anyway due to weather) this Sunday because of surgery. My plan is to get myself back up to speed and find a half to do as soon as (healthily) possible so that I can check off that box for myself.
If you can make it to Baton Rouge, looks like the Woman's Half marathon is giving free entry to those who don't get to do St Jude and Dallas this weekend.
I am going to dig around some. The big plus here was no travel costs and we're trying to avoid that for the time being. Clearly last night I was just down
I'd find another race in the next couple of weeks to do even if it isn't a half. Around here there are a lot of Santa/Christmas themed races this weekend and next.
That one would be fun but it is a 7+ hour drive away and we're making a similar drive te following weekend back to Ga. I'm on the hunt for something next weekend, even if it is just a 5k/10k!
