DH and I agreed to not give presents to each other, but just to take the girls to get gifts for us. That's not so bad for DH, since his birthday is the 28th, so he'll get stuff then, too.
I'm sad. I have to keep reminding myself that I get to travel a bunch for running and that I'm completely spoiled by being able to pretty much get myself anything I really need or want. But still...nothing to unwrap. #fwp
We don't exchange birthday or Christmas presents. It was a little strange the first year, but not so bad. It really is awesome that you get to do destination races; that is probably worth more than whatever gift you would have gotten.
I get it, but you'll at least have the girls gifts, right? It's fun to unwrap a gift, even when it's something you could get for yourself.
Meanwhile, I keep trying to talk DH out of gifts, in exchange for experiences. He loves travel, but the expense stresses him a bit. So he's all, "What do you want for Christmas?" and I'm all," I don't need anything. You, me, Italy, 2 wks this spring. It's happening! Money towards that dude!"
