Postpartu rib/gas pain-anyone have this?

I'm 4 weeks PP tomorrow, and for the past week or so I've been experiencing sharp pains that feel like trapped gas. 

At first it was all around my abdomen area which I attributed to everything "settling" and moving back into place. 

Then it changed to be mainly on my right side, under my ribs and near the socket of my hip. 

I can stay on top of the pain with a Advil/Tylenol but if I go too long without it, the pain is unspeakably bad, like I have to breathe through it. 

What gives? I'm hesitant to go to the doctor since I'm thinking they'll just prescribe something heavy duty (I'm nursing) and tell me to wait it out.

Any advice?

I had an uncomplicated vaginal birth.

The weird thing about it, though, is that the pain moves around. It's not always in the same spot.

Also, TMI, it is somewhat alleviated by passing gas and using the toilet.

It could be your uterus contracting if you are breastfeeding.

I've had this, but it feels like a belt around the lower part of my ribs/upper abdomen. I've found using the bathroom and then a hot shower helps, bonus points that a hot shower helps with breastfeeding.

Mel, I thought so, too, but that is a different sensation that I've been able to distinguish from this nonsense. Although, that was pretty intense, too!

Definitely call. I agree it does sound like gas. However I was just discharged on Thursday and I was specifically told to be aware for pain on my right side under my ribs. It can be indicative of post partum hypertension. You can develop this even if you had normal bp during your pregnancy.

Again, not to scare you but that is what I was told at discharge.
