When I look for "non girly" tea sets etc for Henry it's because I find the pink and flowers etc to be nauseating. Not because I care he plays with it. My mom had a serious moral deliemna when she considered getting Henry a doll. Like I think she lost sleep over it. She didn't get the doll.
Wow, even my seriously old school MIL who was born in 1916 couldn't wait to buy DS a doll because "every baby needs a baby to love".
I have been looking for a gender neutral baby doll for G for christmas. I don't really care if he has a pink one, I just thought it would be nice if it was more traditional, like with the white cloth body under the yellow clothes. (or at least what mine was like as a kid...) anyway, what kind did your MIL get your son?
I had a parent once ask me to ban her child from the kitchen area at school because he was being too motherly and she wanted him to man up.
He was 4.
GTFO! Omg...
David loves the play kitchen. Always has.
I've shared this story before but when we went to "meet the teacher" this past fall David was playing with the dolls and strollers and I was taking pictures. One of the moms said to me "oh, don't show that to his dad! He'll go ballistic..." lol. Ummmmmmmm. No. Thank god I didn't marry someone who wouldn't approve of that. Ugh, it really fucking annoyed me. I jusr said "oh, yeah, he likes all toys..." I hate that I didn't have some wittier response but seriously, WTF? Weirdo.
As I was waiting in line to buy a play kitchen the lady behind me was all, "OH! I ALWAYS wanted to buy one of those but I only had boys." I LOL and said, "This is for my son." Shut her up PDQ.
Edith's doll stroller is actually navy blue (hand me down! Woo!!). Freddie refuses to push it when E takes his, he just shrieks "MY BABY TOLLER!!" at her until I get irritated and make her give it back.
And I'm glad I didn't marry someone who would freak out about stupid shit like that. Although I can't imagine me being cool with someone like that for long enough to get married to him either.
My cousin's wife told me he threw a fit when their son expressed interest in dance lessons b/c his older sister took dance. They argued and in the end compromised that he got to take dance class but he would then also have to enroll in a more manly activity at the same time. I was diplomatic but seething inside. I don't know how she puts up with him.

It was a kind of rag doll type doll. Mostly stuffed, but in a baby blue outfit.
