Husband and I are thinking of doing a quick 5 day trip to Turks & Caicos next month. Narrowed it down to Gansevoort or West Bay Club. The Gansevoort is definitely more our style since were from NYC and we love the vibe. But the WBC is 2000$ less and we'd get a bigger room.
Any thoughts on either property? Also do either resorts do airport transfers or are we on our own to cab it? Dining/excursion tips welcome as well although laying on the beach doing nothing but drinking fruity drinks sounds fabulous.
We stayed at Ocean Club West to attend a wedding at the Grace Bay Club, so I can't help with either of those resorts (although if you're looking for luxury the Grace Bay Club was beautiful).
For 5 days you might want to look into renting a car. The island is pretty safe and there's a lot to see away from Grace Bay Beach. Also, cabs are really pricey. We took one to Da Conch Shack (which is a must!) and roundtrip it was $60. We did a snorkeling trip with Caicos Dreams Tours and it was great -- awesome snorkeling and a really good lunch.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain

Thanks
I actually got married at the WBC earlier this year (my avatar pics is from there)!! The property is gorgeous and the rooms were amazing. I loved that it was on the quieter end of the beach (the beach is really wide at that end compared to the rest of Grace Bay beach). WBC is much smaller than the Gansevoort, their "restaurant" is pretty pitiful so we pretty much only had breakfast there. It is a very quiet resort, which for the wedding, I appreciated, but might not be what you are looking for. The WBC was recently purchased by Grace Bay resorts which should be a helpful change as their event planner and staff were very laid back.
For our honeymoon we actually stayed at the Alexandra and loved it. It was nice to be a bit more centrally located.
Restaurant recs: Coco Bistro, Magnolia, Bay Bistro, da Conk Shack, Lemon Cafe and Parallel23.

Thank you for your recs. The Gansevoort was running a 4th night free special so we went with them. We are very much looking forward to a romantic trip next month.
Turks and Caicos is awesome - have fun! From what I saw, every hotel does pickup at the airport. I ditto the recommendation to do a snorkeling trip with Caicos Dream Tours.
