gifts for 2 yo - what are some smaller things?

DS's big gift is a kitchen but I'm looking for a few smaller things.  What are some things you are getting/asking for?

Did you get play food? I like Learning Resources the best. DS2 just got the baking set for his birthday today and he loves it. The baskets of food are great, too.

Also: pots and pans, dishes, Thomas anything, Duplos, play-doh and tools, books, any kind of truck, vacuum cleaner or lawn mower, shopping cart

DS is 21 months and his big gift is also a kitchen. I also got him the Little People farm, a small Tegu blocks set, M&D reusable sticker pad, and a zillion books. Mostly educational, to teach him numbers and colors.

Ds1 loves his kid sized apron. He wears it when he helps us bake or cook in the real kitchen.

Crayons, coloring books, stickers, art supplies, etc. are always a big hit!

I got almost all of DS' 2nd birthday presents at ikea - pots, pans, kitchen utensils and fake food for his kitchen, the circus tent and tunnel, an abacus, etc. Now that he's 2.5, he's more into characters like Daniel Tiger and obsessed with trains and pirates. He loves all Melissa and Doug toys for that age. He's really into pretend play and loves to build houses, barns, caves, etc. for all of his other toys, with his wood blocks. Books are great, too.

My mom got DS a play chef outfit. Hopefully he'll wear that instead of stealing MY apron and oven mitts! About midway through cooking DS always grabs my apron strings and says "peas (please) momma." I need my apron!

speckledfrog DS is 2/25! Definitely the closest in age of anyone I know! How FUN is this age?!? DH often says to DS "when did you become your own little person? I love you!" DS is as cute as a bag of kittens right now.

YES musical instruments. DS has shaker eggs and a tambourine that he LOVES. For Christmas DH got him a ukulele so they can play together (DH plays DS the ukulele every night before bed). DS loves the Parum Parum Drum his friend has.

That's my birthday, good day!  DS is 2/3 and his list includes books, bath bubbles/colors, travel magnadoodle, ikea train set, fridge magnets, cars, aquadoodle, and kitchen accessories.

The half-price books near me had a pretty good selection of kids books including lots of board books.
