If you want a price point, we need more info. How long in each place? What time of year? Where are you flying from? What kind of place do you want to stay in? Will you take basic ferries between destinations, or do you want something nicer or even to fly? I've been to Greece twice, and the budgets were hugely different.
We went about 2 years ago & absolutely loved Greece! We started in the Pelion area & worked out way down to Athens (the islands will be another trip). Below is my post on our trip. pettitstravels.blogspot.com/2011/10/greece.html

This. I went to Greece and spent nearly nothing because I went in early Spring and stayed in hostels.

Haha, exactly. I went in 2006 with a friend, we crashed in a family friend's apartment in Athens and stayed in a beach hut on Mykonos at the party beach/campsite/hostel. It was awesome but is probably not what anyone over the age of 21 is looking for

Most people will say you only need 1-2 days in Athens, and I agree. The main ruins are centered around the Acropolis and can be seen in one day - but the new archeological museum is great too, so you could occupy yourself for 2 days.
Let me know any other questions you have!
I'm not the OP, but I'm also planning a trip for next June. We're going for two weeks and are planning one week in Athens/the mainland, and one week island hopping. Is that really way too long to stay in Athens? I'm trying to plan on at least a day or two of rest at the beginning because it will be our first trip overseas with our then 15 month old DS. We could rent a car and go stay a few nights somewhere other than Athens too. Does anyone have any recs?
For our islands week we are doing a 4-day cruise with Louis cruises and then getting off the boat in Santorini (instead of returning to Athens) and staying there for a few nights. The timing of the cruise is a big part of why we ended up with a whole week in athens beforehand.

The time of year makes a huge difference in budgeting.
Athens can be more expensive the islands and it harder to get around. In my opinion 3 days is enough for Athens maybe 4. The islands are beautiful. Mykonos and Santorini are beautiful and different from each other. Santorini is one of the more expensive islands. In the same area of islands is Naxos and Paros. Both are great islands. I lean a bit more toward Paros but that might be because I am more familiar with it.
Flights have just gone up each year to Greece so that is something to keep in mind. I would take a look at flights this year for the time you are planning and add at least $100 just to be safe for your budget.
The rest of the costs will be varied quite a bit based of the time of year so that info will be helpful.

I think a week in Athens would be a little long. We were there in the off season, so we didn't do the islands. We spent some time in the Peloponnese instead. The town of Nafplio is really cute and within a couple of hours of Athens. I wouldn't drive there as I wouldn't want to deal with the traffic in Athens, but you could easily take the bus. We rented a car once we were in Nafplio to drive to some other areas of the Peloponnese.
Another idea would be the island of Hydra. It is an island that is really close to Athens. It would be a nice spot to hit for a couple of days.
