DD's MDO just asked for a flat amount upfront to cover all the food items for the year. LOVE. The only thing I have to do for school for Christmas is bring a $5 book to exchange. I can handle that.
This is my major fear with sending Payne to Catholic school. It will always be like this, but worse! And then with two kids in two different grades? Ugh.

It is so not like this at the Catholic school where I teach. Why don't you try to change it?

It isn't? Yay! I just assumed there is lots of volunteering etc. at them. He doesn't go to one yet. Just an episcopal preschool.

my nieces school has always just collected like $30 or something at the beginning of the semester to cover all the expenses for the semester including gifts for the teachers and food. They went to mdo at a episcopal school.
I've found public school to be much easier. It's an academic environment so there is very little focus on that kind of stupidshit. And even then it's all optional and nobody notices if you don't participate.

Oh gawd. I have all kinds of shit like that going on and I'm the homeroom teacher. They couldn't pay me enough to give a shit about this stuff. If they bring it great. I'm not hounding or even counting. look at all this!
Ramen collection for the school-wide food drive (our grade had ramen, other grades other nonperishables) Gift for the family the 7th grade classes adopted for Christmas Miniature shampoos and toothpastes for another class donation drive (they're asking the other grades to donate) $5 for the 8th grade fundraiser for the state neurological institute Treats for the class Christmas party A small gift each Friday of Advent for a gift exchange the Religion teacher does
And maybe effing more. One or two things I'm totally forgetting.
I have my own kid's stuff to worry about. Speaking of which, off to the Christmas pajama party - for which I was to bake a dozen cookies. Oreos is the best I could do. LOL.

Mine's Catholic. But none of it required - except maybe the religion teacher's gift exchange just to avoid embarrassment. Otherwise we always have an overflow of volunteer participation/donation. And there are no tabs kept on who donated and who didn't.
