And number 11 would get somebody smacked in their mouth.
Number 17, I could absolutely see myself doing if I knew the person had an "ethnic" last name but forgot and got flustered and just said what I thought was right.
In what world is it acceptable to touch someone else's clothing and rip it off? I don't care if it's a hat or a shirt, it's appalling.
#7 happens to H ALL THE FUCKING TIME. He HATES it. Just because his dad is from Mexico City and he has a Hispanic last name does NOT mean he speaks Spanish.
Wow... In the past 2 months I've had people say versions of 3, 4, 13, 21 to me and not think anything of it. I've become a bit of a pro at reading people their rights after saying dumb racist shit to me.
Sadly a lot of those are not surprising, yet disturbing.
I get a lot "Oh, but you speak french so well". That's because I grew up in fucking small town Quebec, where I was born. I am expected to speak like my mom because of my last name?
I heard AT WORK a guy tell a coworker "You are pretty for an indian girl". She laughed. I was sitting there silently horrified (I was new there and they knew each other well).

I don't think "like" is exactly the word you want...
I like it I'm pretty sure. In my mind I thought "good for you guy" when I saw his sign. He's a student in the class, not the "black voice" on discussion topics. I would absolutely HATE if people kept asking me what "my race" people did or thought about stuff. So bigoted.
I'll add, even if people still insist that this is "a compliment" the whole "wow, your English is good, you have very little accent" fucking sucks.
NOT ALL BORICUAS HAVE ONE. We don't all sound like West Side Story.
My husband has a very Italian name (due to his Italian heritage), yet when people see him, they're all "wow, you don't look Italian!!". Clearly none of them haves been to northern Italy.
A tangential comment is the whole "Garcia " vs "Rodriguez" poster, which I find a bit funny since Rodriguez in Puerto Rico is like saying Smith in the US (extraordinarily common last name).

lol, sorry, I just meant it looked really awkward to have "I like this" with a racist comment.
They forgot my favorite: "I don't see color." This is usually thrown out when a minority dares to point out that something might be racially offensive.
I laugh my ass off when someone says they don't see color. Yes you do, dumbass! Saying you don't see color is so fucking offensive and smacks of white liberal guilt. Puh-leeze.
Some of those remind me why I'm saving to buy an island in the tropics.

On number 13 - on my first day at my first 'real job' post college we were sitting around a table in orientation just chit chatting about where we were from etc. One man - who was black - was talking about how he was the first in his family to graduate college and how that was a big deal for him. A girl I went to school with (but only peripherally knew) actually said 'Wow, that's a real credit to your race.' I just sat there making that exact face... I mean, I may not always say the right thing, but I know that THAT wasn't even in the same continent as 'the right thing'.

I think we've talked about this before, because someone on here said that they were "color blind."
