I got up at 3:30 this morning to be at work by 5 for this weird project we're doing. I feel like my eyes are bleeding and coffee isn't doing anything for me. I went to the bathroom and nearly fell asleep on the toilet.
Do I need to go score some speed? Start taking espresso shots? Slap myself? Halp!
apalettepassion.wordpress.com/ WHO IS BONQUIQUI!?!?!?!??!
"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
Oh man this is rough. I recommend LOTS of coffee, and I vote you leave work early to take a nap.
I get to leave half an hour early (don't you see the joy and rapture on my face? ). My CW is taking over babysitting this 6 foot tall glass dildo looking thing at 4:30. He'll be here til 1:00am.

Did you take a shower? I need the steam to pry my eyes open. Sleep early. Uh, that's all I can think of. Melatonin if you can't get yourself to sleep earlier.

LOL. Just another day for me - I get up at 3:30 every day . . crazy, I know. My DH unfortunately got me into this cycle that we cannot break. Even our dog gets up by 4am . . weekends too!
Hang in there . . hopefully the caffine will kick in shortly!
SUper helpful.
Op: coffee, cold washcloth on your face/neck, eye drops, i have been known to try and slap my face to stay awake if it is really bad. Oh and do some exercise to get your heart moving. That helps too.
I know this sounds silly, but I'd go in the bathroom and do some jumping jacks. Really anything that will get your blood flowing and release some endorphins.

Yeah, I think you and TOTS are right, some movement may help.
I just put more ice in the "dildo" so I think I'll take a 10minute walk in the snow!

You have to keep moving! And I've focused on drinking tons of water and caffeine- walking to the bathroom certainly gets your heart going! For eyes, you need some drops. The excessive water drinking will help but eye drops are faster.

What kind of work do you do?
I am a materials engineer.
Basically, we are purifying carbon paper in a giant glass instrument. The instrument fills up with acid, then drains, so it washes the paper. It has to wash for 18 hours. But you can't just set and forget because you have to provide it with chilled water so it will drain properly - thus, the need to add ice.

Well it sounds like there are things to do, processes and stuff and that's good! I wasn't sure if you'd just be like sitting and reading or whatever. Ugh, quitting time can't come fast enough, coffee cheers!

It's sort of like 5-10 minutes of activity, followed by 20-30 minutes of doing nothing.
I raided my emergency chocolate stash in my car. Found espresso chocolate - WINNING.
Jumping jacks, squats, walks around the building, and coffee. I'd also stop the coffee about 7 hours before the end of the shift and switch to water. It takes approx. 8 hours for caffeine to make it out of your system and you want to be able to sleep as soon as you get home!

Are you there by yourself? If so, I recommend singing to yourself. Loudly. It keeps me awake on long drives. And I usually crack myself up because I'm slap-happy, so there's a bonus for you.
I second moving around as much as possible, some caffeine but definitely some good, low-glycemic food (not too starchy or sugary, or you will crash later).

I am here with my boss. For safety reasons, at least two people need to be here.
Ate eggs and ground beef for breakfast - so I feel good foodwise! And the chocolate I found is super dark so not much sugar - or at least that's what I'll keep telling myself

Do you think your boss would appreciate/join in on a sing-along?
Your breakfast sounds great, and the espresso chocolate can only do you good at this point. Good luck!

Hahaha maybe if I cracked open a beer for him, he'd join in the sing along

Kevin, dry eyes are one of the symptoms of sleep deprivation. The idea is that by alleviating some of the symptoms, you can sorta fool your body into thinking you're more rested than you are.
