I CAN NOT wait until Iowa gets their first snow storm of hte year. I love sitting all huddled around the tv/computer watching minute by minute updates.
But of course it is all fun and games until I realize my employer will never ever ever ever close down so to enjoy the fun I have to take a vacation day. womp womp

This always makes me giggle, but I'm glad you are safe.
It seems like parts of the South are getting more and more ice/snow - are they able to actually purchase the proper equipment to help take care of the roads/infrastructure so the city doesn't shut down over this? I've wondered this lately...
Also, see below pictures of our backyard/garage/alley in Chicago after Snowpocalypse 2011:
We were snowed in for several days with the babies - it was unreal for the entire city to shut down.
LOL I'm south of Boston and just heard we could get anywhere from 2-8 inches of snow It's wild how sometimes they are all up in arms and others they barely want to give you information!

Last week, we got about 7 inches which was no big deal other than making people a little late because some of it fell heavily right during rush hour. I had friends a couple of hours north of me (closer to where I grew up) and some of them get around 30-40 inches of snow out of that same system though. That's a Snowpocalypse - it was a lot, even for Minnesota.
Those same friends currently have air temps about -30, wind chills around -50. The thing is, once you go below about a -20 windchill...it all feels the same. The wind is painfully cold!
Seattle is the same way. I grew up in eastern WA (where we would get at least 6"-a foot before anything closes) so I laugh when the city closes down for an inch of snow.
This always makes me giggle, but I'm glad you are safe.

I'm in Oklahoma and the schools in my town were closed Friday, Monday, and today. They don't have the manpower or equipment to get down all the neighborhood roads for the busses to run. Further south from me they had a pretty bad ice storm and have been out of electricity for several days. It's highly unusual for this to happen here.
This always makes me giggle, but I'm glad you are safe.

sallywalker - that makes sense. It just seems like certain areas (DFW, for example), have had some pretty terrible ice storms the last few years, but I suppose the equipment is really expensive for just once or twice a year use.
I am jealous when people get snow days, though. The snowpocalypse in Chicago a few years ago was the first time in YEARS where things were closed, that I can remember. It took my H and all of the neighbors 6 hours to clear out the alley (since the city is terrible at plowing our area).

Lol. My friend who lives in Nashville posted this on FB this morning with this caption: "Hey Missouri friends, this is what a snow day in Tennessee looks like. Seriously, no school today."
When we got our 30+ inch storm last year it was pretty much business as usual. It helped that it fell on the weekend and we were right back to work on Monday, but stores and everything were open as soon as the heavy snow stopped.
