1. Commando -- nobody wants sweaty undies. 2. Compression tights -- I'm not picky but I like the Champion brand at Target, Old Navy, and there's always Lululemon. 3. Workout tops in non-cotton fabric. Whatever cut or style you like, but remember you'll be dropping and doing Burpees, so whether you want a loose shirt flying up to your head or not is completely up to you.

I just wear my regular underwear. Are you having problems with what you're wearing now?
Some kind of wicking/quick-dry shirt is important. Sleeve length will depend on where you are, if you're running outside and how hot you tend to get. For CF especially I prefer relatively short shorts because it's easier to squat in those than in a soccer short length, but you can do capris or leggings as well. Again, personal preference and temperature are going to come into play here. Just make sure that any tight bottoms don't become see through when you bend over!
Get good athletic socks too. You don't have to spend a bunch of money on fashion - my current fave shirt and shorts are from the C9 line at Target (ETA: this is the same as Champion mentioned by PP) - but I'd go to a running store for the socks.
I love injini socks for running. They are the "toe" socks and I really like that the toes are all separated so that there is no rubbing and chance for blisters.
I like Balega socks, but any non-cotton socks that fit properly should do the job. Workout clothes you can find in all kinds of places, for more and less $$$. I don't do LLL, it's too rich for my blood (sweat). I buy a lot of workout stuff from the clearance section of runningwarehouse.com.
I don't wear underwear when I workout. I wear some sort of compression bottoms, length depending on the season. Right now I really like the Marika (marika.com) brand, their sales are phenomenal and they've held up well. You can find good workout clothes at Target too though, or as pp said, TJ Maxx and other discount stores.
I do own some LLL stuff. I don't think it's any better than my other workout clothes but some people swear by it. It seems to have a cult following of people who think LLL has a magical formula to make them look better in skin tight clothing (it doesn't.)
I wear black crops and some kind of wicking tshirt or tank. Always black bottoms because I sweat a ton and other colors show sweat marks. I also wear New Balance Minimus shoes without socks - I like the almost barefoot feel. NOT when running though, only for crossfit type workouts and weights.
when i was doing cross fit, I was wearing tight racer back tanks and shorts that I had gotten from BeBe sport (and PH8 what they renamed it to at one point). Same for when I was doing boxing. For those activities I don't like loose fitting clothes.
For running: in warm weather my favorite shorts are actually ranger panties the PT shorts rangers and SF use. they are super light. I also got a pair of champion, i think, from Target that have the little underwear built in, these are the only ones I haven't cut that out of.
I get a lot of sweat wicking tank tops that are varying thicknesses to mesh depending on temp. Some from target, my favorite on clearance from Aeropostale (got my running tight capris there too on clearance).
I get my cold weather gear from Dicks, i love the nike pro combat shirts for winter. And cold weather running pants and tights. I got a few jackets that I use for layering from Victoria's Secret. The bright colors work great and one bright blue one from sams club for $19.
My long sleeve technical shirts for running all came from races.
I find a lot of other gear on running warehouse. I buy all my sleeves there for cold weather running and they have 15% of clearance and 10% off everything else if you have the right codes, which are easy to find, i just don't have them on hand.
I have found that I have a rediculous amount of work out gear. I wish I still lived close to base so I could work out there every day instead of having to commute home 40 minutes to take care of dogs and also see my boxing trainer once a week. And since we live in po-dunk no where, there isn't a decent gym close by and the one on base is free for me.
and a good sports bra. I love the moving comfort jubralee, it keeps the girls in place. I am trying a new one that DH got me for christmas that was on clearance, will see how much i like it compared to the other.
i wear normal socks and VS pink boy shorts for underwear
I shop at the discount stores like Ross and Marshall's for my workout gear. You can get name brand gear there and I usually spend $10-$14 on a pair of tight capris.
The tops I either get from there or from Walmart. The last haul of sleeveless tanks I got were the wicking kind and were $5. I bought my long sleeve wicking jackets there too recently for $9.
I buy any brand of athletic socks that have breathers. I don't have a specific brand I go with but definitely stick to the ones that allow for breathing.
I wear Vivo Barefoot shoes for Crossfit. They are flat and minimalist. I got them off The Clymb.com for $30 shipped.
I wear whatever undies I have on that day. I don't care if there's a line. I used to go commando but it feels icky after awhile and I prefer undies.
