So a couple months after we moved in, we discovered that we have bats in the attic. This is according to one company who I had come out which is rated as some sort of bat-friendly/WeLoveBats specialist type thing. Home inspector apparently saw nothing. Bat Company was like, um, yeah, it is really obvious that you have bats, so your inspector is either oblivious or lying. Anyways, they do all sorts of wildlife control, but got a special We Love Bats or something rating from the bat conservancy. So bats are kind of their thing.
At the time i was HOLY SHIT WE HAVE BATS and didn't want to get another quote for an exclusion because I liked the way they conducted business and were really detailed about how they'd go about sealing up the house to make sure they'd leave, and not come back. The problem is that we couldn't do that until we replaced the siding and windows because in doing *that* project we'd have to undo a lot of what BatCompany did (at not a small price). So the order of projects were 1) windows and siding, then 2) bat exclusion.
For a lot of reasons, the windows and siding were delayed until now, and we're ordering windows this week with hope to install in about 4 weeks. In the meantime, H decided that we don't have bats because he didn't hear them anymore. Um, yeah, they're hibernating, so obviously you won't hear them now. Except now I hear them in the GODDAMN KITCHEN WALL (called the company to see if it was mice or bats, and they say you can't usually hear mice, but bats typically move down into the walls and even the basement WHUT in the winter....great).
H is not convinced (because he's never around when they're making noise) and wants to lay low and get another quote. BatCompany was not cheap, but they guarantee their work until you replace part of your house, thus removing their work. I'm ready to set up the exclusion and have them do what they can, ASAP, with the understanding that a full exclusion won't actually start until they stop hibernating and fly away outside. I also think I'm going to have our handy man install a door to the basement, because the idea of a fucking bat making its way from the basement into my house? Um, NO.

Really? You're sure they're mice? These sound exactly like the noises I heard when they were upstairs above E's room.
THey're coming out on tuesday to put down more mouse bait and I'm going to have them put some in the garage just in case, but I'm kind of thinking that bats or not, this is a win-win situation for me to have them do this. If there ARE bats, they leave. If there aren't there's no way for them to come in, ever.
Freaking nature, man. "Look at the beautiful natural setting" our realtor said. "All the trees and grasses behind the house!" Yeah, nature needs to STAY OUTSIDE and leave me alone!
I would do whatever it was that got the possibility of bats in my home over with as quickly as fucking possible. We used to get them in our house when I was growing up, and I hated it.
Um...I think bats are way more of a reason to burn the house down than spiders.
Bats in the WALLS? NOPE!
This is where I'm at. Like, I'd eat spaghetti for a year if we needed to so we could pay for the absolute best bat removal out there. Because bats? NO. NO NO NO NO NO. H is all "eh, they won't bother us." UM, YES THEY WILL.

I'm like shimmying at my desk, finger combing my hair to make sure they aren't in there.
There are my biggest fear for REAL. I'm pretty sure one lived in our front yard tree and he swooped me over the summer. I only recently started taking tje dogs out again. Good luck with the rabies DH! NOPE!
