I'm so tired of this whole internship application process. I know I've bitched about it here before, but its really taking a toll on me right now. As of today, I've had 5 rejections and only 1 interview (out of 15 total applications). The "unenforced" notification date when sites have to invite us for interviews is the 15th, so this week is particularly stressful. One site was supposed to inform me today about my interview status, but I haven't heard anything from them, though I know others have. I've been obsessively refreshing my e-mail!
I know its not at all helpful for me to compare myself to others, especially since I applied to different sites, but one of my besties has 10 interviews!! Another just got 2 more interviews today for a total of 5. I am genuinely happy for my friends that are getting interviews, but I'm just feeling really bummed about all of it for me because I just want to be able to GRADUATE in this lifetime.

Sorry Bimbi. That sucks!
I've got one. Last Thursday, my furnace wasn't working so I had a $500 repair done. Two days later...not working again. Have to have a new one put in this week for almost $3000. I'm going to totally lose that money for the repair. When they 'fixed' it the first time they didn't even mention that it might need replacing. Because of this, I'm getting a furnace for Christmas. I got a dryer for my birthday. I know it's dumb, but I want to get something that I don't need for once! Being an adult blows sometimes!
I know I've mentioned it briefly on this board. My mom passed away a few months ago in an accident. The accident made worldwide news, so I don't really want to go into much more detail then that. Today would have been my mom's 60th birthday. Everyday since she passed has been so hard, but today has definitely been the worse thus far
I always feel like I bring down the mood of the board by mentioning my mom's passing, so thank you everyone. Even though we're strangers, it really does mean a lot.

Sorry about your Mom, i am very close to mine and she turned 60 this year too. I can only imagine your pain. I am sending you a big virtual hug and hope you find the strength you need.
Sorry Bimbi, Ive been looking for a job for some time now and I can understand how you feel. Ive applied to many jobs and no one f calls me GRRRRRRRR. I also get rejection letters all the time. Is tough.

I'm so sorry My mom is my best friend and It hurts my heart to even imagine. You can mention it anytime. Sometimes it helps with healing to talk about how you're feeling. ((Hugs))

if my little sister does not stop bugging me to borrow kitchen items, i'm gonna lose it. instead of just getting whatever it is for herself, she texts me for a recipe, and to borrow all the equipment, and usually she comes to pick it up she'll take an ingredient or 2 because i have them and she doesn't feel like buying them.

My vent is from yesterday but I needed some time to calm down. We took DS to the pediatric opthamologist for a follow-up appt yesterday to see if his glasses were helping with amblyopia. The doctor tried to cover his good eye and make him use the weaker one with the glasses. He was sitting in DH's lap and kept trying to turn around to see the image from the monitor instead of the one in the mirror straight ahead of him. The doctor finally got frustrated and grabbed the top of DS's head and cranked it exorcist style. My mouth literally dropped that she would have the nerve to manhandle my kid like that in front of us. Then the shock turned to rage and I wanted to grab ds and walk out of the appt. I get it. Some people don't like kids but crickeys don't go into the pediatric field if you don't have the patience for them. She also said that the stye he's had on his eyelid for the past 4 month needs to get surgically removed but after seeing what we saw yesterday, I would NEVER let that b near my kid without me or DH in the room with the two of them. So I guess we'll have to find another doctor to preform the procedure.

What?! I'd be livid!!! I hope she didn't hurt him!

He was squirming so much that I don't think he realized what had happened. Thank goodness.
ditzydi I would be really pissed too- she should have asked for your assistance or given him a break for a minute before getting annoyed like that and grabbing him.
A similar situation happened in the post office. My son ran over to the greeting cards and started pulling them out of the pockets and throwing them on the floor. I was paying for a package and this old woman was like YOUR SON IS THROWING THINGS ON THE FLOOR and I was like I know I'm coming right now to get him. BUT she insisted on grabbing him by the arm and trying to reprimand him. My mamma bear instincts kicked in and I wanted to drop kick the old bitch.

Sounds like agood christmas present idea. ;-)
DH said the same thing!!
too bad she's a total immature adult, and got a brand spanking new car, but hasn't had a functional oven in her house for several years. she says her and her H want to wait until the redo the whole kitchen to replace it with one that stays on longer than 10 minutes.

I would have gone POSTAL (see what I did here? ) Seriously though, DON'T FUCKING TOUCH MY KID. Wtf is wrong with people?!
Yeah. Funny thing is that I was totally appalled when I heard that my mom had slapped my nanny one time when I was little. I couldn't believe she did that but now that I am a mom I totally get it. My primal bitch side comes out and I just want to bitch slap people. I have enough self control not to but...

As someone who enjoys cooking, this is crazy to me. I wouldn't be able to last a week.
Here's a vent. I couldn't attend H's cousin's baby shower (for her SECOND baby, btw, let's side eye, shall we?) I sent a $50 GC with my MIL. I have not received a thank you or any acknowledgement of the gift.
This annoys me.
ugh, this is SO annoying. i don't mind the 2nd shower thing so much, but maybe it's because most of the ones i've been to have been for opposite sex babies BUT it's so not hard to send a quick thank you note. if you don't want to do that, DON'T AGREE TO A SHOWER.
