I've taken a course for I think it was5wks. I enjoyed it & picked up a lot of pointers. It was several years ago & my kids range from 8mo-9yrs but so far they aren't brats. . I like the philosophy & it gave me strategies so I didn't react on emotions.
I use some love and logic in my room. I hear teachers up and down the hall, YOU HAVE TO PUT YOUR JACKET ON!! And then they get mad when a kid doesn't do it. I always tell my kids, you can hold onto your jacket or put it on. Either way they have their jacket, but they are in control as to when and if they need it.
It's been really cold here lately and I have a chronic shorts wearer who doesn't like to wear his jacket. He said I don't want to wear my jacket and I said, I'm not making you wear your jacket, I just want you to take it with you. And he skipped happily down the hall with his jacket ON. No arguments, nothing. And that is a kids who loves to argue.

I am intrigued. Is there info on how to deal with putzy kids? DD1 is so putzy and gets distracted so easily, I am constantly telling her to " get ready" or "let's go". She is 5. All I do is nag. My 2 year old is quicker and less distracted.
