When you toast, do you clink or raise your glass/bottle/whatever?
I've always just be a raise-your-glass person, but H's group always clinks. They don't just clink, everyone has to clink with everyone else before anyone can drink. This custom is completely bizarre to me.
It depends on the group, really. Sometimes it's just a raise, sometimes it's a clink. If there are a lot of people we'll either raise or clink with close neighbors only. If it's a small group (3-4) we'll clink.
Not a huge deal at a restaurant with four of us squeezed into a booth. Spaced apart at my large dining table with $60+ a stem crystal? I'm not loving it. My one niece and DS are especially vigorous in this practice and will stand to make the connection.
