Happy Wednesday everyone! I got a great sleep last night and today I feel like a new person. Much less traumatized and hopeless. I have an ultrasound today and follow-up appointment tomorrow and I am anxious to find out how our little guy is doing. I'm excited though because we will get to see our baby in 3D for the first time! Also it's in the -40s here, but H is picking me up for the appointment so I don't have to drag myself to my freezing car to go. Woohoo!
I only have 18 days of work left now, and on frigid days like this I know I made the right choice. I will be sleeping in my warm bed instead of dragging myself through the dangerous temps soon.
My glider came last night and we will set it up tonight. Can't wait to test it out

I came to work today because I couldn't handle another day of banging, clanging & beeping from the road construction happening in front of our house. They are literally standing around in my drive way while the road gets torn up. I wish it would rain for a few days; I need a break from all the noise.
I've been informed by some girls that work down the hall from me, that semen helps soften the cervix; lol. I've read that before, but I tend not to believe these types of things..and honestly, sex sounds like a terrible idea, but hey.. i might need to check it out.

Thanks Stingyshark! They recommended sex to induce at our prenatal class, and a coworker of mine said it worked for her. Worth a try if you are feeling up to it.

How is everyone else doing?
-40?!? Where are you?!
Saskatchewan. It's been like this for days now, but they are saying it will improve tomorrow. Sometimes I don't know if they really think that, or if they just say that so people don't give up on life haha. And my parking spot is a 5 minute walk which is FOREVER in this weather.

When you said you were having steady BH constractions I thought you might have been going into labor. GL - I'll bet it won't be long. Are there any full moons coming up?
My random? Umm, I'm having trouble concentrating at work. There are 8 work days (including today) before Christmas vacation, then a couple random days before NYE, then I have a 5-day training in early January. Depending upon when Jr. decides to arrive, that's just not a lot more time in the office.
I'm starting to make my final to do list - which includes going to BRU for registry completion. I got almost everything I need except a couple small items. It might be a bit of a shopping spree since I have $150+ of credit & GCs.

My goodness. I couldn't imagine (I'm in NC, and am VERY cold natured). You're a stronger woman than I!

I wish.
I'm trying really hard to just accept that she's going to be here when she gets here & there is absolutely nothing I can do about it - which is incredibly difficult... but i'm trying.

Just checked out my EOB from the hospital for last weeks NST/Ultrasound....... I owe the hospital $714. :'(I REALLY need this baby to come this month.. my deductible is now met.. Oh man. bring on the sex. heh.
Also, it's is unfrickin' believable that the insurance will pay the hospital almost 6x as much for an ultrasound than they will pay a freestanding radiology place.
Stingy - semen contains prostaglandin which helps soften the cervix. So does Evening primrose oil & red raspberry leaf tea.
I have read about the raspberry tea, I have some, but I don't think it's the "right" kind. Looks like it can be bought at walmart (my favorite place ^o)).

Our dresser is shown as delivered so I'm excited to get the too large baby clothes put away! I'm also so ready to sleep on my stomach again. I swear if this baby wanted to come 4 weeks early I would probably be OK with that (though I know the more on time the better).
Unbaby-related, I'm excited about seeing Xmas lights on Saturday!
I have my 37 week appointment today and I'm scared. I want to tell my doctor to not do a cervical check because I was in so much pain last time she did it. But I kind of want to know if anything has changed since the last appointment!
I wonder if you were having a contraction when she checked you? I've been checked 3x, twice by my dr, neither time hurt, but when the nurse checked me last week I thought I might die, she said i was having a contraction .
I just had my appointment, sadly not much progress, but she said I am softening nicely. I could swear the baby's head dropped, it hurts to walk, and it feels like he is resting on my tail bone. Sadly he is still nice & high. Today is DH's b-day so we are going out to eat to celebrate.
How was your meeting w/ your midwife yesterday? I think it was yesterday you posted she was coming over.
In this situation I am glad we rent! Maintenance guy is off today but I'm friends with our property manager so she is going to try to get a new one for us instead of fixing the current (22 years old!) one.
Midwife had to cancel the home visit because she had 4 births in 36 hours and needed rest. So I saw a nurse just to check BP and HB (both good).
Oh yes, that is a good time to be a renter! Fixing a 22y/o water heater seems like a waste of money; there life span can't be THAT long. Dang, I bet your MW was tired!

I hate wrapping presents, and I'm hilariously bad at it. I just can't do it, no matter how many times DH has shown me - I just can't. I just wrapped three boxes for H's presents and it was torture.
I have a $$-related bit of excitement for today. I ordered a pair of awesome boots from Nordstrom on Black Friday (already a good deal) and today, I noticed that the price went down by $30. I just called customer service and got a price adjustment. Ca-ching!

Actually it didn't hurt until maybe 30 minutes later. I started having cramping (contractions?) on the way home and it didn't let up for maybe 3 days. I had to catch my breath sometimes and they are painful. I still have them once in a while now- never before the cervical check. Maybe it was just a coincidence?
The actual check did not hurt at all. She also did the GBS swab and it was fine too.
Oh, got it.
Hmm, I might want to be checked again since you were having some painful contractions, but that's me. I asked to be checked yesterday, despite only have BH. I'll prob skip next week unless something changes between now & then (like I start having "Real" contractions).

Ooh I have another random. The ILs wanted to get us a baby gift and we decided on a glider. We couldn't find a nice one here so I ordered a sweet wooden Dutailier one online. It's a good brand name and I got a good model that reclines, has a nursing stool, etc and cost about $500.
When we told them the cost FIL actually seemed annoyed and said the point of them buying it as a gift was so that I wouldn't be cheap about it. I'm like wut? That seemed like a lot to spend on a chair to me, and also apparently he thinks I'm cheap. He's been having an awful week so I understand the comment, but I can't believe they called my sweet chair cheap.

Gah, I'm so annoyed with work right now. I love both of the attorneys I work for, but one of them makes me want to poke my eyes out sometimes. I get all of his shit done in a pretty timely manner, but he sits on shit and it takes forever for him to get my work back to me - we go past firm-set deadlines for reporting things to the clients ALL THE TIME because he doesn't spend the time to look at my work. Every few months he gets dinged by the partners to get his work out - this happened today and he sends me an email tonight saying all of these things need to be done and go out tomorrow because he was spoken to by the partners. He wants both the actual late stuff out plus all of the stuff that isn't even late yet to go out. I have no extra time to spend doing all of these things, and no one in the firm will be able to help because everyone is drowning in their own work.
I love working for this guy most of the time because he's such a nice guy and lets me do my thing most of the time, but I hate when this shit comes up and I have to bust my ass to get him out of trouble. I called him and told him I would gladly send out the stuff that is actually late or due this week, but the stuff that isn't due for another few weeks, well that's probably not going to happen.
I'm great at my job but I hate when stuff like this happens - I do my best to do what is asked of me plus much more, but what he's asking for tomorrow is just beyond what I'm capable of.

Ugh how frustrating! Good luck and do what you can, but try not to get too stressed out.

Did you get checked? I had my first internal last week, and while I found it slightly uncomfortable, it was nowhere near as painful as I remembered during my last pregnancy. I have my 37-week appointment in the morning -- I can't decide if I want to get checked or not. I was closed last week, so unless my OB really wants to check, I'll probably skip it.

Nope. Doctor didn't see the need to check me again. She says sometimes cervical check can cause contractions. She felt one while checking my belly too. I was glad she didn't check me!
I didn't either. I haven't had a single real contraction (as far as I can tell), but I did get crampy after my check last week. I am going to wait until 39 weeks to get another check unless I start having contractions. This baby can't be born until after the 21st when my parents get into town, so I don't want to do anything to encourage contractions at this point.
