When I got home last night, H mentioned he saw a poinsettia on the porch, but he hadn't had a chance to grab it because he hadn't been home long. I wrangle the dog so he can get the door open and grab it.
There are two cards in there and they are signed by two of our neighbors. One I have met once or twice, but haven't really talked to since it has gotten cold outside. The other family lives next door to the neighbors I have met, but I have never met them.
So my question is, what do I do to reciprocate? Should I just send them a thank you or would it be nice to bake them something. I know both families have kids, but I don't really know if there is any dietary restrictions.
Last year we had only been in the house a couple months before Christmas, so this is the first time something like this has happened.

That was so nice of them! I think it would be nice to bake something for them, but if you don't have time, a combo thank you/happy holidays card would be fine.

Awww, that was really nice of them. It sounds like they are trying to break the ice, and could be some good future friends! I would make some cookies, and deliver them personally, so you could chat with each of them and get to know them.
Our neighbors brought us some wine a few years ago. We never reciprocated--we're probably a$$holes-but we hardly ever talk to them/see them so I think its kind of strange.
Bake something. Cookies are good. If you don't have time to bake something, then I think a gift box of chocolates or tin of shortbread cookies is fine. This way if there are any allergies or dietary restrictions, then at least they can read the ingredients from the packaging (less awkward than asking you what's in them). Also, it's not like they hand-made your gift, so I think store-bought is fine :-)
Thanks for the ideas everyone! I got busy at work, and forgot to check back, oops. It might be a few days, but I should have time to bake something and hopefully take it over this weekend.
