I'm so behind on this. What are you getting for your children's teachers/specials? We are on a tight budget right now so I have to be careful. I'm just getting gift cards for DS1+2s teachers and aides, but I don't know what to get for the specials teachers and the bus driver. Any ideas that are cute but cheap?
Our preschool actually sent home a favorites page on each teacher. It was kind of clever. She has 4 teachers that are in her room and I will be giving them each a $25 giftcard that pertains to their favorites.

I always liked getting the jars of cookie/cocoa ingredients. They look pretty and cost next to nothing if you already have the ingredients. One kid gave me a jar of soup ingredients and it was delicious!

I have the kids make cards for their specials teachers, no gift. Last year we gave the crossing guards (no bus driver) a $5 gift card to a local coffee shop.
I'm giving each one a tin of gingersnaps from world market and a GC but the cookies could easily be a gift by themselves. They are delicious and keep well.
I don't know! Henry's daycare provider is a hard person to shop for. I think I'm getting a garden centre giftcard card and a small plant with something else that Henry makes. I don't know.

I need to get the speicals teachers gifts too? Gym, art, computers, media, music, and Chinese? What about the aide that help with the car lanes before and after school?

This wasn't on my radar at all. Is it expected?
Well, this is all new to me (DS is in K), but I read it on MM lol, so I thought, ok, I guess I have to buy them gifts, too. I mean, I don't mind because they do teach, so I feel like they should get something.

My DS is in K too. Back to the stores I go. I'm thinking a $10 Target card?
Also, while it's sweet to get something for the specials teachers (or any teacher, for that matter), it is okay to not get anything, especially if things are tight. I promise that a nice, handwritten note to the teacher about how much you appreciate their hard work, how much your child enjoys their class, and a short anecdote about your child/their class would be very appreciated.

This is what I'm doing. If you go by sports/toys (insert random section of store for all I know), they have 10 packs of gift cards on an end cap. Saves some time from having the cashier ring up each gift card individually. They have to have the same value applied to each but $10 is our specials/bus driver/after school gift amount.

DS1 is in K, DS2 is in daycare.
DS1's teacher is getting a $25 GC to Target and a nice note. His art, music, PE, library, and four before/after school program teachers are all getting a small pack of holiday chocolate with a nice note. DS1 will help us write the notes.
DS2's two main teachers are each getting a $25 Target card, there is a third floater in his room will get a $10 GC.
