I have started to notice that occasionally when I go to start a load of laundry there is standing water in the drum of our HE Kenmore washer. This is not a good sign. I am so annoyed, I despise Sears but DH lives but Consumer Reports and our model is one of their top recommended models...... This machine has 3 years old and has been NOTHING but problems.
It is not even used hard, it is just DH and I and most of our clothes are dry clean only.
Is it a top loader? We had exactly the same problem with our HE top loader. CR recommended ours too and I think there was a class-action lawsuit over it. Worst appliance ever!!

Hm. I'm sorry. Whirlpool did several service calls on ours for free when it was dying; have you called Kenmore? If cleaning the filter/reading the manual doesn't help, maybe try that. However, my mom tried that with Maytag (I think it was Maytag), and they told her "too bad" basically. Hers has been terrible too, but my LGs have been terrific for 5 years, if you end up looking for a new set. I'm convinced that brand matters on these things and that CR is completely untrustworthy on the subject.
We just got GE Profiles a couple of months ago and I love them. I use the Good Housekeeping reviews as my source.
I wanted the GE Profile Harmony it was one of the larger ones. Our neighbor and a family friend talked us out of it. Both had problems with the belts and locking mechanicism of the washer, no problems with the dryer. Keep us posted, please.
We have had GREAT luck with LG appliances (expect for TV) but it was not a CR rec. product so DH was not comfortable with the idea. Look where that got us.
