Still tossing around ideas for our February vacation. For the time and amount of money we would spend flying to Trinidad & Tobago, it looks like we could go to the Azores. But would February be a good time to go there? And has anyone on this board been? I'm thinking maybe GilliC?
I've been to a few of the Atlantic islands, but not the Azores. I think maybe aMrsin09 has sailed there?
Not me, but the Mr has. So I just asked him "what are the Azores like in Feb?" I got (and this is a quote)
The Azores Islands? yes In February? yes Cold as ^&&$^*# hell. I can't even imagine it.
Now keep in mind that the above came from a man who has seen snow 5 times in his life and thought the French Riviera was miserable in February. Bit at the same time, it is the North Atlantic ... in February.
I've only been to the mainland but half my family has been (dad's mom is from Brazil via Sao Miguel) & while it's not sunny & 75 it's not snowing & 25 either. Expect temps in the 50s for the most part from what I have heard. In general the climate is pretty mellow. From google:
You can expect to have some bright sunny days, a few wet and windy days and some overcast and cloudy days, with average temperatures of between 11 and 17°C.
Well there you go. The Mr is wearing jeans at 17 C and is well into sweaters and jackets by the time it reaches the 11s. You should see what happens when single digits appear ;-)

Good to know. No wonder my friends go back during the summer.
