Yes, you are right, they've been happening for years.
I haven't been into D&R really for about a year, but from what I can tell from when I do look at things, I haven't missed much. Everything seems pretty stagnant.
I'm seeing (or thinking I'm seeing) the tiniest blip of more "done" interiors. Anyone else? Designers have been doing that white-linen-greige-seagrass look for a couple years (which I still love bc it makes me feel calm), but maaaybe a few more of my pins these days are more "done," more formal/elaborate/styled, than in the past? Or I'm self-selecting bc that's where I'm leaning now
Also, the menswear thing has sort of been happening with herringbone, right? I think the brass/gold automatically welcomes a heavy, more elaborate style. Organic materials have been happening for a while too - e.g., reclaimed wood. Maybe more grapevine/wisteria furniture & wicker?
The brass and gold stuff has been happening more for at least a year, but I'd say that's probably the newest and most fresh for non D&R types. I feel like blog posts where a blogger chooses brass instead of ORB are still getting a lot of comments from people being very surprised at the "unexpected" choice.

I have been adding brushed brass/mat gold accents in my one living room. I really like the warmth of the color as opposed to the cold silver fixtures. it works well in my space.
