I have issues. So many people have compimented my tan that I was determined to lay out today. I drove 20 minutes to my moms house and spent 2 hours at the pool.
Oh, and it's 108 degrees with the heat index. Probably not the smartest idea.
I used to tan and I wish I could take it all back. This is one of the only regrets I've had in life. I worry all the time about getting skin cancer someday due to my younger years.
I still get a little self conscious sometimes because I feel like I look better with some color, but I've finally learned to embrace the pale and wear SPF every day now.
I won't go tanning, that's sill to me, but I'm not going toto hide inside and miss out on my favorite outdoor activities. I wear sun screen, not obsessively, but I wear it. I'm okay with getting skin cancer if I can look at my husband and say, "it was a hell of a good time, wasn't it? ."
What's the point in living to be old if you didn't actually do any living?
I'm pale as a ghost and proud of it. I've learned to embrace it. When I was younger I wanted to be tan, of course, but thank God I came to my senses. My mom had skin cancer on her face, and she was barely ever in the sun.
This is the thing I don't understand about indoor tanning. We have a tanning salon right down the street from my house, so I pass it everyday going to and from work. Why do people go to tanning salons when it is sunny and warm and beautiful outside? If you're going to tan anyway, why not lay outside in the lovely weather instead of in a cramped little booth that you have to pay for? I get it if its cold or rainy out, but when it's nice, I just don't understand.

People go to tanning booths b/c it only takes 20 mins to get a noticeable difference instead of 2 or more hours in the real sun, plus it's private so you can do it and avoid tan lines if you wanted to. I don't fake bake anymore but did it a few times for big events in the past, and it was more relaxing than scary to me, so I could see why people do it all the time.
I will admit it, I like my skin with some color and actively tan when the weather is tolerable. I do it naturally outside, with sunscreen, and don't feel like I am overboard about it. Of all the poisons I have put into my body over the years, I'll have to say skin cancer is really one of the least of my worries about what might happen down the road.

That makes sense. I still wouldn't do it, but I can see the appeal I guess.
