That's where DH is being transferred to next. They couldn't make D.C. happen. It could be a lot worse, so I'm thankful for that, but...sigh, I love D.C. so much, I hate to leave. He'll be there for 4-5 years, so yippee, no moving for a while! I just wish if it had to be Texas, it could have been Dallas or Houston, which would have been much better for my career. It looks like we'll have to live in the Round Rock/Georgetown area for his work. Anybody familiar?
In true D&R fashion, I've already started looking at where to live Found the prettiest apartment community. LOVE this floor plan. When I showed DH the pic of the LR with the beams on the ceiling, he literally asked if we could reserve the apartment now. They only have 4 of this model and we don't move til May, but he's that stoked about the "tree house effect" with the tree tops being right off the balcony that he said he wants to put a deposit down now LOL. I told him maaaybe we should wait for our housing trip in February to see if we like it IRL
Um, awkward PS, but you may be wondering if I'm moving with him if things are good with us. Nothing's actually changed with us - the thought of kids still makes me hyperventilate, I still would rather be here in downtown D.C. than anywhere else in the world - but I've gotten a lot closer to God, and to paraphrase C.S. Lewis, prayer doesn't change God, it changes us. I'm learning to go day-by-day and just keep my trust in God. He's been very clear with me that I'm to go to Austin - I mean, the spiritual 2x4 He's been hitting me over the head with has been so strong, it might as well have been a real one lol, so ok, I'll go. I'm not always happy with the news (we've known for 4 days), but I'll go.
I love Austin. If I had to live in TX, I'd live under the Congress Ave bridge with the bats. That's all I have to contribute, which is nothing. That apartment is amazing.

Honestly ... if I had to move back to TX, Austin is pretty much the only place I'd consider. Shopping, great arts/music scene, less texan than most of texas (ironic, considering it's the capitol and all that) ...
I have a family member there. That area is good. You'll be about 45 minutes outside the city, if I remember right. Lots to do. Very cool town! Glad to hear things are going better. That apartment is awesome.
