I am contemplating getting the Gigi Professional Hard Wax kit to start doing brazilians at home. They are rated really well on Amazon, and quite frankly paying $100 every time is getting expensive.
DH is urging me to continue going to the salon, but my bestie told me she'd do the deed for me (since DH is not wanting to.)
No way, no how. Only a seasoned pro would get near me.
This.
I pay $55 each time.. so worth it to me. (Where is it $100?! That seems outrageous. And I go to a place that only does waxes and in Chicago, so not super LCOL or something.)

I have that kit and do them myself. If you have a friend who is willing to do it for you, I say go for it. If you really hate it, you can still use the kit on your legs, etc, and it costs less than what you are paying for one wax now.
The only hard part about doing it yourself is bending into the right position and seeing everything, but you have a willing volunteer.

I've used a few different Gigi kits, for both bikini and legs. I tried a Brazilian once, and it was a disaster. I was by myself, and could not see where I was leaving wax. From then on, I'll do touch-ups on my bikini line, but save the Brazilian for the professionals.

I've been doing it myself for over five years. It started as a time and money thing in law school. Even then it was at least monthly and $75, but time was the biggest issue.
I find the roller applicators the easiest. Also important are the wax remover and aloe. It may not be as perfect as a pro (but by now I'm pretty darn good) but its so much more convenient.
