Thanks for the support y'all, it's been a pretty tearful evening.
The annoying part is I accidentally left my ring inside when we were leaving this morning and went and unlocked the door to run back in and get it. Stupid, stupid.
Oh adlove, I'm so sorry. I have known lots of people who have had this happen. I have known one guy who lost his on his honeymoon. Ouch.
H and I have agreed that if this happens to either one of us, we would not get upset. We'd get a replacement and have a cute little ceremony (just the two of us, no officiant) so we can say vows again and exchange rings. Maybe you could do something like that.
Did you have insurance/rider for it? If not, you may want to look into it. It's fairly affordable.

That's a really sweet idea
It wasn't insured actually. I don't wear my engagement ring where we live right now, but I think we decided to get a small inexpensive band so I can wear it here. When we leave I will likely wear my engagement ring alone.
Thanks everyone! I'm less sad today haha. I convinced myself that it's kind of cool that part of me (omg so lame) will always be here in Trinidad when we leave.

I'm so sorry!! I can only imagine how heartbroken you are.
H and I got married on the beach in St. John (USVI). I almost lost ALL of our rings in the ocean because I *HAD* to take a picture of them in the sand. Married mere hours, a big wave came up and almost swept all of our (uninsured) rings away. H was ready to murder me... I think I'd be in the ocean with them if they had gotten swept out. lol

I'm sorry that you lost your ring! I love that attitude though. Great way to be positive about a sad event.
I "lost" my wedding band last October at a nail salon (I say lost bc I swear to Jesus that women there stole it; I was the last customer, they literally walked out of the store with me) and was really upset!
Oh no!!! I would be devastated! After we got married I re-designed my engagement ring but wouldn't touch the wedding band because it means so much to me.
Literally yesterday I was thinking, "H and I have made it almost 4 years and neither of us have lost our rings!" I was sure he'd lose his by now, haha.
Glad to hear you're feeling a little better. Sorry girl.
When we were getting married, I actually didn't want a wedding band. My engagement ring is an art deco setting that looks much better alone than with a band. I wanted to use it as my "wedding ring" but my husband really thought I should have a separate, traditional wedding band. So it took a little while to get used to it, but now that it's gone my engagement ring looks so strange on its own!
Like I said, I don't wear my engagement ring out here, just usually around the house or maybe on very special occasions, so I will want to get something simple to wear so my ring finger isn't totally naked.
