Just dropping by to post a picture since I didn't include one when I announced his birth here. He was born on 11/26 and time is flying by! I wish I could post more! Hope you are all doing good! Here's one of him in the hospital:

And here's one from a few days ago during his birth announcement photo shoot: Attachment Deleted
And by the way - definitely get newborn sizes - clothes and diapers! Everyone says to skip them b/c they are too small. But my 8 pound 6 oz baby still needs those sizes. I think size 1 diapers say they start at 8 pounds, but he still fits better in NB. Thank goodness the hospital sent us home with a ton of nb diapers, but my mom still ran out and bought us 2 packages. (We're just starting to use our CD now that his stump is gone and penis is healed.)
Also, the Rock n Play is the shit. So are A&A blankets - get at least 6. Also gerber cloth diapers are the best burp cloths - get at least 10. Make sure u have plenty of covers for your changing pad and cover their business during a change if you have a boy (I use baby washcloths). We've been peed and pooped on so much. I have 4 changing pad covers and wouldn't want any less.
And his penis after circ was scary! No one talks about it, but the swelling freaked us out!

What are A&A blankets?
EDIT: NM, it's the brand name! Also, I use all those damn receiving blankets to cover our changing table too. It's a good way to actually use them, LOL.

I'm just going to drop a few more tips here while I have the time. I hope it helps some of you, even though so much of this is personal preference. This is what works for us.
Sam's Club wipes are the best! Green package, Simply Right or Simply something in the name. Dr. Brown's washable breast pads are really nice. The Nuk ones suck, Nuk disposable pads suck too but Lansinoh are ok. Mam pacifiers are a favorite. He really likes the heartbeat sound on our noise machine. We definitely needed a humidifier. Our house is super dry and it was affecting his skin and breathing. Clipping baby nails is no joke. He had long nails at birth and I'm glad I took his clippers to the hospital b/c he was scratching his face and the hospital won't cut his nails. We have cut them like 4 more times since then too, they grow so fast. We've cut his finger too but he's ok. It is scary to use the clippers though! If you circ your boy's penis make sure you have Vaseline on hand. We had to put it in his diapers so they didn't stick. I received a giant thing of vaseline at my shower and was like wtf will I do with this. Well, we put a huge dent in it.
We were having some breastfeeding issues and we borrowed a baby scale to see what he was taking in. It really made me feel better. I don't know that that's for everyone, but I recommend getting a scale if you have concerns. I wish we had it from day one at home. So if you are looking for things to buy/register for maybe add one.
And I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I don't like my boppy pillow. I feel like the only one on earth that doesn't swear by it.

See, I stopped using a cover on our changing pad because we were constantly changing it. I just put a (regular sized) washcloth down underneath their bottoms when I'm changing them.
I will echo the sentiment that the RnP is the shit. Be sure and get the one that vibrates - some of them don't.

alpineslide I have mentioned before that I really dislike the boppy a lot. It doesn't really work for me. I wish I had a breast friend one. I second the humidifier.
I have yet to cut baby D's nails...I use an emery board, because I am terrified of clipping his fingers.

I've used my Boppy for everything but its intended purpose. I can't figure that shit out either.
Also I would declare one exception to newborn clothes. If cloth diapering from birth the fluffy bum might make baby too looong for newborn. I got tired of stretching onesies so far down really quickly. He was 7,4 at birth and 19.75" long.

I have the breast friend and don't like it, tried using it once and gave up. I prefer just using a regular pillow or nothing.
I got scissors instead of clippers to cut baby's nails and really love them. Surprisingly much easier to use, although you have to get a good pair (ones with the rounded tip). I cut her nails while I feed her, it's the only time she sits still besides sleeping.

You must be exhausted at 47 weeks pregnant!
It is certainly nice to know that I am not the only one that hates the boppy. Everyone said it was the best gift ever, and THEY WERE WRONG!!!

this is proof that babies can be so different. A was 7lb9oz at birth and 20" long and we CD, and we had to go out and buy newborn clothes because 0-3M were huge on her. she's still happily wearing all her NB stuff and she's already up to 9lbs (lolllll she doesn't play when she eats..)
Wow. My kid must be all torso. Below is a newborn outfit with a preemie prefold/bummis super bright NB sticking out the bottom. He was 36 hours old and I only brought the one outfit. The body and shoulders of newborn size fit great for a couple weeks but even from the beginning I had some 0-3 onesies that worked really well. Random but also true he has massive man feet. When DH saw the footprints he said "are his feet really that big?" Newbie socks are not quite long enough to be worth the effort.

Hahaha, I completely forgot about that thing. Like you said, I'm exhausted, my brain just isn't what it used to be

LOL at the Boppy. I was registering at BBB and the woman was like "You absolutely need this" and shows me the Boppy and a $75 price tag. I said there must be a way my mom and grandmothers survived without this overpriced contraption. My mom said she just used a pillow for support. No Boppy for me, for now. But if I think I need one, I will send my husband out ASAP to buy me one.

My kid also does care for the vibration or the rocking, but he likes to be upright. The bassinet we have goes from lying flat to upright, which I love.
