She was having steady contractions right? But I didn't think she was that far along.
She's 37 or 38 weeks, and was measuring ahead. Her midwife (or whoever) moved her EDD to 12/18.
Ooh - exciting! I keep trying to tell DH that this baby could come earlier than 40 weeks. People always seemed to think I'll have the baby on my due date.
So you guys are aware our hot water heater was broken last week and replaced on Saturday. Sunday morning I finally got a hot bath but that was the last time we had hot water. Felt tired & achey all day Sunday and woke around midnight with contractions only to discover we had no power and no hot water. So I woke DH up and we read by candlelight (we have a bunch of electric candles) for a few hours, then I managed to get about 4 hours of sleep.
Contractions got closer together (4min apart, 1 min long) for several hours and I saw my midwife early this afternoon. I'm only 3cm and not in active labor yet She is concerned I will get too tired from a long early labor so she stripped my membranes. She said that my bag of waters was bulging which is a good sign that my hormone levels are where they need to be for active labor.
I have no idea what the difference is between breaking your water and stripping membranes lol. Anyway, I hope active labor kicks in soon and you get to meet your little boy!!
Thanks!
Water breaking is when they break the bag of water. Membrane stripping is when they separate the bag of water from the uterus (it causes hormones to be released that can cause contractions)
