Timers on everything.
Mostly though, our neighbors looked out for us. They picked up the junk newspapers and shoveled our driveway after it snowed and parked in our driveway to make it look like people were here. We had our mail held at the post office and notified the local police department so they could check in.
We leave a radio playing upstairs. Lights on timers if we think of it and mention to the neighbor across the street that we're leaving.
Also, might go without saying, but blinds closed and no view inside. The break ins that I've heard of around here have involved shear/open window treatments.

We have cameras. They can be controlled via cellphone. We can see inside the house remotely anytime on the cell phone, and we can also move the camera and view all around the room from the cell phone, and take snapshots or video clips. And the cameras are also motion activated, and the phone will alert us if the camera detects motion and turns on (so far, it's always because the cat has jumped onto the bed). Additionally, the camera has day AND night vision, so it can see everything, even in total darkness. The total darkness images are clear as daylight.

What brand do you have? My parents got some but they're a kind of hassle. Always going off when the shadows shift, not very user-friendly to adjust settings, terrible customer support, etc. I think they have Lorex.
DLink, but my (geek) spouse says they have sloppy password security.
