My mom and dad have a base for our car seat so if they needed to pick up from daycare one day, the base is already installed. Daycare is onsite at dh's work, so if they needed the seat part he'd just have to run it over to the center on his lunch so they could get it there and snap it into their base. They also have a pnp.
My parents also have a booster in their car for ds.
They also have a few books and toys and a crafts box and board games for ds to play when he is there (he's 7).
My mom has one (she lives in a different state and it makes it easy so I don't have to lug a convertible seat on a plane during visits). My ILs don't have one, they hardly see him and will never drive with him.
ETA my mom also bought a PNP, high chair, toys, clothes, etc. My ILs have a high chair that we brought over.
My parents already have a PNP and a high chair at their house...this is their 3rd grandchild. My ILs will have to get the same too, but we don't go there as much because they have 3 cats I am allergic to.
My mother has a pack-n-play and a high chair at her house for my nephews, as well as a giant box of books and toys. A lot of the stuff came from her friends who have older grandkids. She watches my nephews a lot but does not have a permanent car seat in her car. We live in a big city, though, so the odds of her needing to drive somewhere with my nephews is pretty slim.
I don't think my parents will get an infant seat, but we may get them a base that goes with ours (as it stands we only plan on getting one carseat and a base for both my car and H's car). When he moves up to convertible seats my parents may get one….but I honestly doubt they'll be seeing LO enough that they would keep a seat in their car all the time, and I don't know that I trust them to install it right every time….so if they are going to take the baby, we might just swap cars and let them use our car + carseat.
My mom did not have an infant seat, but she bought a convertible once DS was old enough and now she has a belt booster. She didn't like borrowing my car and switching the car seats around every time she drove him around.

My kids see my mom almost daily, so she has a lot. Infant stuff at her house are a PnP, swing, high chair, breast friend pillow, bathtub, her own stash of CDs, toiletries, and books/toys.
She did not have an infant carseat because ours just stayed with the kid and she was good at a baseless install. She has a convertible for DD2 that she installs as needed because she rarely drives her places. She keeps a backless booster in her car all the time for DD1 because they are together a lot.

The grandparents don't have carseats. We usually take PT to work, so if my MIL needs to pick up the girls, she can come home first and get my car. When they babysit, we just switch cars with them if needed.
MIL has a few toys at her house (stuffed animals and things from when her kids were little, don't ask) and when the girls were babies, I just brought the PnP and later a booster for when she watched them.
My mom has a crib, a high chair and a million toys, but that is her choice, lol
My IL's have all the basics necessary which is nice. Most of the stuff my MIL bought on consignment but she bought a new convertible car seat about 6 months back for my DS and nephew. I think it's nice she has stuff and it makes it easier. I'd make sure they buy a convertible seat vs a bucket too, IMO.
