Making final decisions for my bathroom redo starting this weekend! woot!
Toilets: Choices are Toto Drake II, Kohler Cimarron or, AS Champion 4. I've read some good reviews on the interweb about the AS - many that say it's on par with the toto at half the price. For the same price of the Toto, i could get two AS, one for my to - be -remodeled bathroom and the other to replace the one in my master bath. That one would qualify for a $100 rebate for replacement, so Im pretty tempted to go with the one that would allow two for the same price.
Will I be run off this board if I shun the Toto? Is that a mistake I'll regret? I keep reading good things about the AS toilets - and you know, everything on the interwebs is 100% truth.
We have AS toilet in our master bath that we put in after we moved in becausecwe liked the AS toilet we had installed in our old house. We will likely buy another for the main bath. I haven't been run off the board yet.
We went with an American Standard and are very pleased. The price was definitely right, it reduced our water usage by 2/3, and we got a rebate from our county for installing a low flow toilet.
My American standard works just fine for my poo - maybe the toto toilets are for people whose shit doesn't stink? I kid but honestly I don't understand shelling out that much for a thing that you throw up And take dumps in.
If not having a toto tolet gets you shunned, come sit by me. Or should I say shit by me? Haha.
I have a AS Champion 4. It survives my 20 year old DS. I do not get the love for Toto based on my experiences with the pair in my mother's beach house. DS has been clogging those puppies since he was about 8. On the plus side, the Totos are why DS is proficient with the use of a plunger and snake.
Perhaps my mother's Toto are the lowest possible entry level model.
lol. We put a Mansfield toilet in our powder room when we renovated it last year. We got it for a song and I liked the look. So I certainly won't shun you for not putting in fancypants Toto toilets.
