If you have plaster walls and have put up picture rail: how did you secure it into the wall?
We're considering it so that I can repaint our downstairs parlors (and the ceilings - that'll be fun!) this spring. Right now, because of the coving and the wall texture, there's no good place to stop the ceiling paint and start the wall paint, so both of those rooms are painted the same color floor to ceiling. But given how freaking difficult it has been to secure the curtain rods in our plaster, I can't figure out how to secure the darn stuff. Do we just nail it in and pray it holds? Screws? Some sort of angle-bracket system? Help.
Find the studs, or toggle bolts if you're actually going to be hanging pictures from it. If it's just going to have to hold the weight of the rail itself, I'd just screw into lathe.
