Is this a bathroom? If so, I like it - I much prefer the window film over those blinds! We did something similar with just frosted film (no design) to the window in the garage in our previous house.
I don't think it's odd for a bedroom, I think I would have to see the family room before I could say yay or nay on that one.
I think it is good to have that in your DD's bedroom, it definitely will be much cleaner than blinds. If she needs a way to block out light you could always use a rollershade - those can be fairly easy to clean depending on what kind you get

Love it. I love my window film too, for the same reason: it's so easy to wipe clean. I hate cleaning blinds! I have the plain frosted kind. People think it's frosted glass- they can't even tell it's film unless they really look closely.

I think they are nice for a bedroom! It is cute. Sorry to hear about your daughters allergy. Mine has a bunch too (food, dust, cats, pollens, etc). Do you have allergy barriers on her pillows/mattress too? They made a big difference for me with my dust allergy and DD has them on her bed too. Worth the investment!
I think it looks great. I've considered putting window film on my bathroom windows before and got some samples just haven't had the extra money to go do it.
@juno and demandypants yes, I have the pillow and mattress barriers. I have gone down a long list of precautionary measures.
I'm still trying to figure out if there's anything else I can improve. We have forced air heating and I change the filters VERY often now.. but I'm wondering about the ducts? My DH vacuumed the areas reachable from the vents but that's not very much and I am wondering if I should get one of those companies to come out and clean them. I've read it's all a fraudulent thing.. but it seems like cleaning them couldn't hurt? I don't know. I will keep researching
We've had our ducts done (not in this house although I'm sure it's needed b/c EW mice) ... I think the parts of it that are fraudulent is UV sanitation and that stuff they spray in them. Having someone brush out/vacuum the ducts certainly would go a long way to reduce the dust. We went from having to change the furnace filter monthly to barely needing to change them every 3 months.
We really need to do this in our garage. It makes me nuts that people can see if we're home or not FROM THE STREET because of our clear garage door window panes.
