H had got sick on Thursday so we have been sleeping separately to hopefully keep me from getting sick, but it didn't work. It's given me a chance to catch up on reality tv and some new shows. I started watching the Carrie Diaries and am hooked. It's so cheesy, but I love it.

Feel better! Is Carrie Diaries anything like SATC or is it just a young adult drama with the same characters?
It's def more PG than SATC, but there is still a decent amount of sex, but more issues that high schoolers deal with.
I have a complete random thought/question - has anyone seen the Kmart commercial with the line of guys in boxers playing Jingle Bells with their, uh, penises? Am I a total prude for thinking it's wildly inappropriate? I think I'm getting old and crotchety because I can't believe some of the stuff on TV these days.
No! I was like wtf is this commercial. I thought it was horrible.

This sounds like a good mindless show to binge watch. Is it on netflix/hulu/amazon?
That's exactly what it is. I don't have to pay too much attention, but it still keeps me watching. I'm watching on HULU, They have all but the newest episode. Carrie drives me nuts sometimes because she over analyzes every single thing, but she drives me nuts on SATC too.

I saw it on at like 9:00 this morning. Totally appropriate morning advertisement. ^o) I saw people posting it on FB a few weeks ago and talking about how amazing it was. I figured it was one of those Internet-only commercials to create buzz. Apparently I am an old lady as well b/c I cannot believe it's on TV at all, much less morning TV. Or maybe it's because I have a 2-year-old that asks "What's that, Mommy?" to everything, and I really don't want to have to explain that one.

I agree. I hate the sexualization of every damn thing these days. I saw an ad for a cleaner that had tons of sexual innuendos. I was dumbfounded!

My husband is at bowling league tonight and even though I hate being alone, I was happy tonight because I watched 27 Dresses in peace without his mocking and sarcastic comments!!
When I saw that commercial I was in shock that it was on tv. I do have to say I loved their 'ship the bed' commercial last year.
We close on our house Thursday and all H has been watching is hgtv and DIY network. He's been watching a lot of 'Holmes inspection' and now I have a fear were gonna move in and our house will fall apart like the ones on tv I know it's irrational!

My 4 yr old was like, "Look mommy, look! Why are they only wearing their underwear on TV? And they're shaking their butts!!! Eww" :::mom face palm:::
I do find the "ship my pants" commercials Kmart does to be funny. Does that make me only somewhat old?
If anyone is loooking for a new show to watch, try Behind the Mask on Hulu. It's a Hulu original series, each episode is only like 20-25 minutes and there's only about 8 of them, but I really liked it. It follows 4 guys who are mascots - high school, college, semi-pro, and pro.
I think the Kmart commercial is funny. There are so many commercials objectifying women and this one somewhat objectifies men, but in a humorous way. I dunno it doesn't bother me...haha.
Add me to the small list of people amused by the Kmart commercial. At least it's clever?
My prude-o-meter, however, dinged out of control the first time I heard Lady Gaga's "Do What U Want." I was horrified at the idea of a little girl singing "do what you want with my body," etc. Although I guess I belted out "Like a Virgin" as a kid, had no idea what the lyrics meant, and I turned out just fine.
I have one more final and then I'm off until the 13th. I CANNOT FREAKIN WAIT!!!!! I'm going to read and watch shows on netflix and flit around the house, wheeeee!!!! My brain is excited to turn to mush for a month lol.

Here is a true random fact about me:
I can't walk around barefoot. I always have some sort of shoes on, not socks, shoes. Even in the middle of the night, I put slippers or crocs on to walk to the bathroom. We have wood floors in our entire house (no carpet anywhere) and the floors hurt my feet. The only place you'll see me barefoot is the shower, and on the beach or boat. That is it.

simpsongal - sorry to hear you're in a tough situation with your BIL's dog. I hope your week turns out better for you then my dog-sitting experience earlier this year. We agreed to dog-sit my brother and his wife's dog earlier this year for 9 days, and it was kinda a disaster. I said yes to dog-sitting because I wanted to help out family, but I had no idea what a PITA their dog is. He is used to being walked up to 2 hours total per day (who has time for that working full time?), he is a very picky eater, etc. etc. He ended up peeing on our rugs and furniture, pooping and peeing in the kitchen, even though he was going to the bathroom outside at regular times - it was a nightmare of a week. I will never agree to pet-sit the dog again. I told my brother they need to find a good kennel/day care place if they can't find a family member to dog-sit for them, but they refuse.
I hope the dog doesn't give you much problems and you can enjoy your christmas week.
I just had a meeting with a woman from a production company who wants to possibly use our house in a movie they're filming here next month! Which would be kind of crazy with everything else we have going on right now, but also pretty cool.
I starts playing world of Warcraft - it's an awesome distraction!
We've been playing A LOT of super mario on the wii. We've already beat the game, but we are playing it again. I'm terrible at video games, my hand-eye coordination is terrible - so there is a lot of yelling and remote throwing involved... HA.

OMG - this is my fear. I think he's a pretty mellow and well behaved dog, but I don't know how he'll act in our home and around our dog. If it's a stressful disaster on Monday night, I'm going to insist that DH tell BIL we can't do it.
I'm hoping & praying both dogs are good together and just relax at night with us. Fingers crossed!
Lol.. I never played WoW, but in college for a class I had to play EQ2. Those types of games are SOOOOOO addicting.
on the app, please forgive
I may have played EQ in college. My BF (now DH!) was really in to it and got me in to it. We would play until the wee hours of the morning and it was easier to "chat" with him through the game interface than try to get his attention, IRL. That shit was sooooo addicting!
To make this somewhat baby related (even though it's a no baby talk thread, sorry!) the name of my EQ character was at the top of my list of girl names. DH vetoed it because I'd already "used it up." I'm sure it doesn't help that the character was this gigantic barbarian woman, LOL.
