She's a good friend of mine, and our husbands work together. She has a son who is 8 months and EBF. Her husband has recently become addicted to Percocets after a kidney stone "incident". Tonight, he took a "handful", in her words, and flipped out when she asked him to help her pick up the living room. He threw her on the ground, smashed her phone into pieces and kicked her. She slapped him and then ran to my house crying. My H went back with her to get the baby, and her H shoved him out the door. I begged her to call the cops, but she was scared that she would lose custody of her son.
Fast forward 20 minutes. She decides to go BACK over there to get some of her son's clothes. Another shoving match, but this time, she clocked the shit out of his nose.
He called the cops. They both went to jail. The cop expedited her release process, and she's being bonded out now, but I'm here with her screaming, hungry baby who doesn't take a bottle. I hate the whole situation. She should have called, they shouldn't have laid hands on each other, etc. I went to her house to get diapers and saw that he had literally created a muder scene. Blood splattered on the mirror, the sink full of bloody water, blood on the CEILING.
My son has croup and was up at 6 this morning and didn't nap all day (thanks steroids and albuterol!)
If you got this far, have a drink for me. I'm too exhausted to get one myself.
Holy crap. I'm so glad you were there to take care of the baby, and yet I'm so sad that things escalated that quickly. I really hope the baby takes a bottle, even if its just enough to get rid of the "hungries" until his mom can pick him up and feed him.
You are an amazing neighbor for stepping up like that.

I don't even know what to try to give him. He can't have whole milk yet, right? That's all I have.
The cop wanted to call DFACS. Her parents like 3 hours away and left immediately to come get him. There was no way in hell they were taking this baby from my house. I told him the DFACS worker could sit on my couch with me and the baby, but he wasn't leaving with anyone but her parents. He agreed to let me keep him. My husband is on the couch and probably hates me, but she'd do the same for Liam.

Do you know if she has maybe frozen some BM from over supply or pumping? Can you get in their house to check?

She doesn't pump because he refuses a bottle. She's never left him alone for more than 30 minutes. I imagine this isn't how she wanted to start
She just came and got him. Right when the officer left with her, I went to her house and packed everything I could into a few boxes. Luckily, they were supposed to be moving in a few weeks so she had started gathering stuff up. I cleaned out her closet, baby's room and bathroom and grabbed a few pictures. She wanted me to get his birth certificate, etc.
When she came to get him just now, she was leaving for good. She's moving back home (north GA, 3 hours away). I'm really upset about all of this. She's one of my closest friends, and we hang out daily because our husbands work crazy shifts. I know it's for the best for her and E. Now I'm all emotional and over-tired.
Hey I am seriously wondering if you live in my town since you said you are in GA and the cop comment wouldn't surprise me one bit since they are total dicks around here.
Are you in by chance in CC? If so, please report it but don't expect much. The cops there are the biggest assholes in the state and get away with it.

That poor baby. Poor neighbor too. I'm glad she's leaving and I hope she stays gone. That baby doesn't need to grow up like that, and she doesn't need or deserve someone who beats her. They both deserve much, much better.

Omg! First of all, you're a great friend and neighbor to take command of her poor baby. Second, I hope that cop get fired for that horrible comment, wtf?!
Could there be any fall out about this at your husband's job? He works w/the neighbor's husband right?
Also, is there anything else you can do to ensure your family's safety? I mean, this guy assaulted your husband too. Is he going to press charges as well?
I am so thankful you were there for your neighbor and her baby. That shit could have escalated quickly and who knows what could have happened.
