I received a set of Trumpette "Olivia" socks at my baby shower and just pulled them out the other day since DD needs more socks in a larger size. They are the mary jane style with a little button sewn on the side to mimic a shoe fastener - super cute, but I started wondering if the button is a choking hazard. It looks like it's sewn on quite tight, and Trumpette is a very reputable baby company, but it still makes me a little nervous, especially since DD puts everything in her mouth, and loves to chew on her feet these days.
WWYD? Use the socks as-is? Snip the button off? Contact Trumpette to see if they would exchange them for a different set without buttons? Other?
I had a similar set with the small flowers instead of the buttons. I stopped using them when one flower fell off. They started to come off or get loose after couple of wash.
I would try to exchange, and if not possible, cut the button off. It seems unlikely but a risk not worth taking! They are super cute though. DD2 wears trumpette socks most days and people go crazy for them.
