We live in the UK, and are home visiting family for the holidays -- this week in FL with h's family, next week in VA with mine. All along we figured that I wouldn't have a baby shower because nobody offered to throw one, and the logistics would have been really complicated (our friends and family live all over the US and we get limited time to visit). But yesterday my amazing MIL and SIL surprised us with an amazing shower with lots of h's cousins and family from FL, and a few of my family members who live in the state by not nearby -- they drove live 4 hours to come and surprise us! And my parents FLEW down to Florida for the day to be there :-). We were so touched...I cried as I saw everybody who had gathered to be there :-)
A few random shower observations:
- I guess you could call this a couples shower, or families shower. I'm so glad that my H was there some of our male relatives and nieces and nephews. It wasn't "girly" at all, and there were no games or anything, just good food and good company :-).
-I'm really glad I had actually bothered to do my hair and makeup and was wearing something cute :-). We were going to do touristy stuff yesterday, so I actually put an effort into looking nice because h loves to take photos
- I'm glad we didn't have a registry set up. People got us some really cute clothes, awesome kids books, and stuff that they liked for their kids that we never would have known to pick out. All the fun stuff :-). So now wee can spend our own money on stuff that we NEED (like a breast pump!) instead of getting stuff like that as gifts (which isn't as fun as getting cute clothes and toys and blankets anyway).
What an amazing day:-). I'm still basking in the glow of it all!!!
