I just want to know if this is something I should be putting this much thought into or not. I have about 5 toys/teethers that are from a company called Cribmate. They're made in China but specifically state BPA and phthalate free. They're basic toys (for example, the keys that every infant has every had ever, this in fact: www.babyking.com/baby-king/182/Key_Rattle.html), and a couple of cold teethers.
Do I throw them out? Or am I just too worried, and they're fine?
I would say yes, paranoid. Your baby will likely put lots of stuff in his/her mouth that's made in China. If this is something that really bothers you, however, feel free to chuck them.
I vote that the toys are perfectly fine.
It will be difficult to sustain a USA-made products only stance, but you can give it a go! Good luck!
Thanks MrsDarcy! I'm not opposed to the fact that they're made in China; I have no doubt that a lot of her stuff is going to made there. These just look cheaply made which is why I'm questioning them (but of course, I didn't put that in my OP, and thanks MIL for making me more paranoid!). A friend suggested I try and scratch the paint off and see if it's easy to come off. I may just do that, and if it doesn't, I won't worry.
