My spices are in alphabetical order in a small Amazon shipping box in the cabinet, so... yeah.
I honestly have never thought about the hospital question. Growing up, I lived ~5 miles from a teeny tiny community hospital whose most important feature was the helipad for taking you elsewhere if it was serious. It was a good hour from a big, 'full service' hospital. Now I live about 8 miles from two different large teaching hospitals. I've never really been challenged on the issue by a location that I thought of living.
I ordered small tin cylinders online and store then in a drawer next to the stove. I like my spices fresh, so they usually come in packets and it's easier to transfer to the tins. And I like uniformity lol.
On #2, I like to stay within half an hour. Asthma attacks scare the hell out of me and I like to stay close to an ER.
