I officially can't blame DH for the drawings not being done. I keep altering the plan. Here's the old vs the new. Old is the one w the solid shaded walls.
I like how the porch will be so much more open. Only bad thing is now the study/guest room is not adjacent the 2nd bath.
I want to see if we can eliminate that solid wall next to the dining table and make it all glass/ doors there.
We still have a ton of adjusting to do (entry, windows, etc), but I like it so much more!

I think the living room/dining room area in the second plan looks a little crowded to me. I also like the guest room/bath in the first one. I love having guests separate from us

The furniture in the program my DH uses is totally oversized, so I think that's why it looks cramped.
I do wish the guest room could be farther away/ closer to the bathroom, but honestly we only have guests 4 times a year and will likely use that room almost daily for working, so it made sense to have that use trump it.

Can I just say y'all are the best motivators. Your comments really struck a chord with me. I've been pretty frustrated with the design so far.
Last night DH and I sat down and made a really amazing change sliding the 2 halves so it isn't just a big rectangle. It solves all the issues and makes it also much more interesting.
I want to draw it in my software and look at it in 3d and I'll show you.
I'm excited to see the next revisions. I didn't reply here, but I was trying to think about suggestions that might get you the more open porch keeping the guest room on the other side of the house.

I really like the kitchen move and how more open the living room is.
I love these window walls that fold back:
...but if you're like us, this garage door style more in our budget for now.
Plus the built-in storage area at the entrance is super smart! I wish we had that. Oh and have you thought about a transit window between the dining area and the entrance - you could get light without everyone seeing into your dining room from the front door and it might feel more balanced since you do have the other two walls filled with windows in that area?
Popping in late to say that knowing architects are going through revisions like candy makes me feel so much better about all the revisions we went through while planning and all the changes we are doing during construction. So, thank you! I always feel bad when I have to call/email about something we've yet again changed.

Is love to afford those doors! To get ones that perform decently thermally is $$$ though! We are planning on 2 sets of 16' sliders that each make an 8' opening. If we have to change it to 4 sets of 8' doors I think I'll be ok with that too.

The updates are great...the patio lining up with the main living area will make it seem twice as big and the window hall near the master is great. I know it's more expensive to have a master bath, but could you perhaps add a small master bath later if you wanted...where the closets are now (and connect up to the end of the hall?
Oh, and you should save that wine bottle or cork to hide in a wall with these plans when you build.

YES.
I love the new plan. Just a thought/suggestion: what if you made one of those windows in the master bedroom a door? Take that little lot corner and put a master patio on it. You know ... a tiny container garden, table/chairs, hammock/outdoor bed, etc. It'd be an excellent place to spend a Saturday morning with the paper (or whatever).

We left the cork in Detroit! That is a great idea though!
That is exactly what we are thinking now with the sliding, if anyone wanted to add on in the future, there is room. I think next to the existing bathroom would be even cheaper. You could block off that entire end of the house.
Wow this is a fantastic revision. It makes so much more sense on the lot, and I love the patio aligning with the living/dining/kitchen. I also like that you've got the guest bath back over with the guest room/work space and away from the rest of the house.
