I posted part of this question on MM but I think this would be a good place to ask as well. I used to love using a planner but when I had DD I got all kinds of disorganized. I tried Erin Condren a couple years ago but didn't care for it all that much. I didn't like her layouts. I don't like using google calendars or anything like. I prefer to write things down and see it on paper.
I like the idea from this blog: iheartorganizing.blogspot.com/p/2014-daily-planner-faqs.html where she uses a discbound (or something) punch so that she can add and remove pages as she sees fit, and can use it every year. I am just hesitant at the initial cost.
Where do you get your planners, what kind, what do you stay away, how do you keep your life organized etc etc =D
I use an EC with different colored pens and a pencil to track different categories of activities and a pencil for tentative events. I keep a to-do list on the side and below each date if it's date specific.
I read about EC on here but it didn't seem to fit what I need in a planner. I buy a Mead Academic planner at Office Depot each summer. The Academic one has the least amount of "fluff" on the pages and the most amount of lines for me to organize properly. I tried to go digital and that was just a 2 year experiment in severe disorganization.
Before EC, I would always hit up Office Max / Office Depot / Staples and pick out what I liked best.
I didn't like that the weekly view is split morning/afternoon/night across the page. I prefer to have the columns of the days of the week (if I am describing that properly) We had written in to ask if this was a possibly to have done and they said they were in the stages of re doing things. When they released the new designs though, they didn't change that aspect which was disappointing. $50+ is a lot of money when I am not 100% happy about it. We will see. I like that hers have designs and color options and is laminated so I don't have to worry about the cover or back getting messed up.
DH and I use the "Our Groceries" app for shopping lists and Google calendar for events. In order to really be organized, I need to know what he's doing and that can't happen on paper. I don't even have a paper calendar in the house any more.

My Google calendar is pretty detailed -- I have it color coded, so I have DD's activities, my work tasks, family events, appointments/checkups, etc. each represented in a different color. Personally, I know I wouldn't keep up with a planner, but Google calendar is easy enough to update from my computer, phone, or iPad.
I have ordered before. I didnt last year because it IS expensive and I don't love it 100% I am definitely pen and paper kind of gal.

Me too. I have to write it all down and see it to remind me. If that code is expired you can try this referral link ( I think it gives you 10 off): www.erincondren.com/referral/invite/neasmith1124
