I'm on 100mg now and have been for about 6 weeks. Prior to that, my doc had me ramping up the amount, so I've been on the drug 10 weeks total. I was taking it before bed and had trouble with sleep disturbance, so 4 weeks ago she had my switch to taking it in the AM (at this point, I'd been taking the full dose at night for 2 weeks). After switching to AM, I got the worst diarrhea ever. Ever. Feels like I am peeing out my arse. I hate it. I gave it 2 weeks, thinking my body would adjust to taking it in the AM. It didn't, so I switched back to taking it at night, but the problem has not gone away. I'm going on 4 weeks now. I'm a little dehydrated too, as a result. Doc says to either give it more time or try a different drug.
Has anyone had this but eventually gotten over it? WTF did it only start when I switched to mornings? This fucking sucks. Everything else about the drug is working for me. I really don't want to switch. Input?
No, I've been on pretty much any and all anti-depressant, including 100 mg of Zoloft before eventually weaning down to 50mg, and I've never had that problem. Could it be diet or general anxiety messing up your bms? Everyone is different but if you can isolate the cause as being Zoloft then I would switch. Lexapro is a good med too. GL
Oh yea, when I was playing with my doses, that happened to me. MH would always that he had the same side effect as well. It definitely went away once I was used to that dose, which would only take like a day or two.
I've been on Zoloft for 2 years now. After a stomach flu in November I've still been experiencing stomach issues. I was diagnosed with post infectious ibs.
Today, my psychiatrist has decided to switch me from 100mg Zoloft to 10mg lexapro to see if it will help my stomach.
Random--I forgot to ask my dr if lexapro is safe during pregnancy.
i was put on an sSRI for IBS issues (diarrhea too often caused by anxiety) and i read that they can often give people the shits.... I got the shits the first night I took my med - but then it went away.

I asked my psychiatrist about Lexapro and pregnancy. She said that while some women are on it during pregnancy (and do just fine), she said she feels like zoloft is absolutely the safest choice. She said we can talk about switching to lexapro after I have our next bebe.
