Hi there. My husband and I trying to figure out where we want to go on our 8 year wedding anniversary this May. Short story- My husband and I got married in Riviera Maya Mexico 8 years ago. Every May we go on an anniversary trip for usually 2 weeks. This Sept we already have another trip planned with friends to go to Peru for 10 days. So we are going to 10 days in May. We definitely want a beach destination. We have already been to Mexico, Aruba, Turks and Caicos, Grand Cayman, St. Kitts and Nevis, and the Bahamas. Our favorite destination was Grand Cayman. We enjoy relaxing on the beach, but we also usually do some scuba diving, hiking, and other activities. We usually rent either a villa/ or condo right on the beach. We live on the East coast.
Any location suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Loved both Curaçao and Costa Rica. In Curacao you could rent a place in West Punt which is about 45 minutes from the main town and has great snorkeling and diving. We stayed in Tamarindo in Costa Rica which has great beaches and is a fun little town. Both places have hiking options, but Tamarindo has better actual beaches in my opinion.
Bonaire. We went last April, and the diving and snorkeling is incredible. You can shore dive all over the island, and there are some really nice villas for rent. There's a great grocery store in town (all in Dutch, so bring your translator app!), and we also really loved exploring the national park. We also did a tour that was a mangrove kayak in the am, and cave rappelling in the afternoon - super cool!
We also really liked Curaçao, but we only stayed there for a few days, and we were at a resort most of the time.
St. John is also incredible, but the diving is light years better in Bonaire. St. John is more beautiful and has some great hiking.
