Other than weather, so far construction has been way less painful that I imagined. I had prepared myself for the worst! Last week we committed to a roof color, our second big big decision so far. This weekend we will be committing to exterior paint colors (OMG).
Broke ground in October and here's where we were Jan 1. Attachment Deleted
This is the most exciting part of the build so far. We wanted the ceiling here to come to a single point like it is in the pic but in the design phase had to compromise by having a 3 piece ceiling: the two angled sides and then a flat piece as wide as the fireplace to join the angled sides just above the triangular windows. This was to allow for HVAC and all the house guts to run through the house. However, once framing started we discovered there's likely enough space to run all that stuff in an area not shown in the pic so we're 99% sure we can keep the ceiling like this! Attachment Deleted
Looking into living room from kitchen. The dungeon looking thing is H's closet and our storm room. Next to that is my closet. You can also see the window above where the master tub will be. Attachment Deleted
The property already had an rv pad with water, electric, and septic when we bought it so we moved our camper out there. Not living there full time or even half time but it's been amazingly convenient and awesome to be able to stay out there occasionally since it's an hour away from where we live right now.

Kitchen looking to dining nook and porch.
Entire house was designed around this porch.
seriously, we could be living the same lives Ours is also focused around our back porch and lake views. We started the reno the week before 4th of July and should FINALLY start insulation/drywall next week. I'll post pics soon!
also - our trim on the front porch is very similar to yours too! We're doing a hardi-cedar shake on our dormers and plank on the rest of the addition. We picked soffit colors this week and are narrowing down our trim & siding colors this weekend. Paint is such a commitment!

What renos are you doing? What problems have you run into? I will be an absolute nutcase if this takes 9+ months! We are already past the 1 year mark of when we started looking for land/houses. I would have preferred to buy existing and renovate but we couldn't find anything we could work with that crossed off all the items on our list.

Well. We gutted our whole house and only left the exterior brick (all interior/electrical/plumbing gone). We tore the roof off and added an upstairs. So...it's been a HUGE project. We just passed all of our inspections this week (electrical/plumbing/framing) so we can start the interior now!
