Slowly but surely the dining room and all other rooms that need drapes are being tackled. I finished sewing them last night and DH hung them this morning (just a pinch higher than I would like, but some things you let go YKWIM). I was nervous about the fabric since I ordered it n line, but it ended up matching nicely. It never ceases to amaze me what a difference window treatments make in a room. Eventually the blinds will be replaced with plantation shutters. The room faces west so we have to have some covering--it gets too hot otherwise!
Thanks! I think he over compensated this time on the curtains since he hung DD1's too low and they drag a bit. Unfortunately I don't have any of the fabric left over. The repeat was so big (and I was anal about getting the two panels to line up on print), that the scrap left over is useless. The wall color is SW Expressive Plum and I adore it!! @justdairy --DH agrees with you and thinks I should leave the table alone.
A runner in a coordinating fabric might be nice. A large glass hurricane glass with some organic materials inside. Or even a pair with column candles. Or a group of these-
nursecramer -- I should raid the china cabinet. I put some things in there at Christmas that I usually have out and about. I have to be careful though since DD1 has a pretty good reach these days!
auntie --Thank goodness I ordered enough fabric to be able to match them. I was a slacker at reading and didn't realize how large the repeat was. Luckily it all worked out as mismatched patterns would have driven me crazy too!
FormerlyRR --if it ends up driving me nuts, I'll probably just let the hem out a bit. It really is only about 1" from the floor (it looks like more from the angle of the photo).
Can you put the curtains on rings instead of directly on the rod (I think that is how they are hung)? The rings would give you extra length. I would use pins and rings rather than clip-on rings for a more finished look.
