We built our house last year and I just realized we don't have a deed. Anyone know how this works with new construction? We did a one time close before construction started so no meeting with the title company when it was finished.
Do you NEED a physical deed? We keep getting offers from companies who will send us a deed, but I thought you could just go to the municipal offices and pull it if you needed to?
Or are you saying you don't think there's a deed filed with your town?

I would assume there's a deed somewhere. I'm just not sure if I need to have a copy at home with other documents in the safe. When we closed on our old house 10 years ago, we were given a copy, so I thought maybe it was abnormal not to have a copy at home.

You don't need a deed unless you think it's a cool piece of to have, then there are several companies out there that would be happy to sell you one. But when buying and selling, the title companies take care of all the paperwork.
