I always knew the induction was likely but actually scheduling the date made it much more real and I didn't have a list of questions ready to ask. I don't go back to the doctor until Friday so I have time to think of many things. Will I be on monitoring the entire time? When will you break my water can we wait a while so I have a chance to labor and dilate on my own? (I'm worried b/c as of last Friday I'm very high and closed.) What medicine do you use and start with? What can I eat before the 7:30 start time?
I wasn't dilated at all when mine was started. They started an IV right away and I took Cytotec around 11pm on Wednesday night. Slept, got up around 7am, can't remember what time they started Pitocin but it was early. They brought me breakfast but I was told not to eat much of it. I was finally dilated enough to have my water broken at 4pm (my advice, let them break your water, it gets things moving). Epi around 7:30 (should have done it about an hour earlier), pushing by 2am Friday morning, he was born at 2:32am.
It was boring, bring something to keep yourself/your SO entertained. And I was starving and they wouldn't let me eat! DH snuck me in a tray of sugar cookies.
I was induced at about. 3 pm on a Monday. Started with cervidil. Took out at midnight and had ambien so I could sleep. Started pitocen at 6 am. I was able to eat whatever I wanted up until epidural. I had baby at 6:40 pm after only 4 hours of labor. Was a great experience for me luckily. They broke water just before I started pushing.

I was electively induced with both kids at 40w1d.
DD1, I went in at 7pm at night. I ate around 3pm and the nurse told me I should have eaten right before. I was 2-3cm and 70% (I think) effaced. Cervadil was put in at 9:30pm. They gave me ambien to sleep. (I DO NOT recommend this because I seriously was so out of it) Contractions started around 1am. My water also slightly broke then (just a trickle). Got my epi at 4am and I was I think 4cm. 10cm by 11:15am. Pushed from 11:20 to 12:51pm when DD1 was born. Never needed pitocin.
DD2, I went in at 7am. I was 2cm and 50% effaced (I think) I was eating as we walked into the hospital. Pitocin was started at around 9am. Contractions didn't start until like 12:15. (I remember this because DH ran out to go to the gas station and stopped at Wendys for lunch and got back at just before noon). They were horrible. I asked for the epi at 1:10. Nurse came in to prep me at 1:15. I asked her to check me. I was 9.5cm. She tried to tell me that I could still get the epi. I told her I needed to push then. My doctor came running in a couple minutes later. DD was born at 1:24 after 3-4 pushes. ETA: Never got the epi
I was GBS+ both times so I was hooked to an IV the whole time even before the Pitocin was started with DD2 and because I was prepped in case I needed pitocin. I was able to unhook my contraction monitor and doppler when I needed to pee or walk around pre-epi with DD1 and the whole time with DD2.
I was induced due to pre-e. I started out with cervadil for 12 hours, then I was on pitocin for 3 hours. My contractions started right away and were never more than 2 minutes apart and they were strong! I was able to eat during the beginning of my induction, just not a lot.
