I did some reading online last week and Medela pumps seem to get good reviews. I think I'm going with the Hygeia Q, but my second choice would be a Medela.
Those are the ones my insurance was going to cover. I put the Medela Pump in Style Advanced on my registry though and someone has purchased it, so I'm going to go with that. Otherwise I would have gone with the Medela - I hear it's pretty similar to the PISA.
Those are my options as well and I think I want the Medela. Is anyone ordering from Edge Park? I can't order until around the 21st and am kind of curious as to how it all works.
I went with the Medela. I think the price of the Medela was at least $100 more than the other choices I had, so I figured I would obtain the most expensive one through the insurance and would buy cheaper ones on my own if I needed them. I have been using mine continuously 5 - 6 times per day for almost 4 weeks and so far only 1 of the plastic connector thingys that attaches to the collection bottle has broken (it's a cheap replacement). The Medela is also what my hospital recommended.
I just ordered from Edgepark and apparently I could of ordered a long time ago but my insurance people kept telling me different things. I will let you know how it goes but it seemed pretty straight forward. They will contact your insurances and doctor office for you which I love. I am going to fax in my script so maybe it'll speed up the process.
I just called my insurance on this today. I have cigna and they use care centrix to administer this benefit. According to care centrix, I call at 7 months with an RX from my ob. There's no telling what pump I'll get other than a double electric (also option of a manual instead, but no thanks) - it depends on what the actual supplier has in stock.
From what I've been reading online, most ppl are getting the Ameda which is not the one I wanted. Annoyed.
I think the Medela Advanced Double pump is one of the ones available through my insurers approved suppliers. I have United healthcare and called for info today. They told me I can't order it until my due date - I know this is probably to cut down on fraud, but it seems unfair to make new mothers wait, especially if breast feeding is a struggle and they would rather pump before trying to introduce formula. I wish I could order it now. A lot of people online remarked that certain pumps always seem to be on back order.

I gave birth on a Sunday night, called my insurance on Monday for the first time to learn if pumps are even covered and where to get them. Called the medical equipment provider, found out which pumps are covered, and was told I needed a prescription from my doctor with a diagnosis code on it. It took until late Tuesday morning to get this prescription from the doctor faxed to the medical equipment provider. The hang up from the doctor's office was knowing the diagnosis code because apparently this is an uncommon request for this info. Then it took the rest of Tuesday for the equipment company to verify my insurance. The pump finally shipped out Tuesday night with overnight shipping from a town 2 hours away from us and got to us on Wednesday in the daytime. Of course there was bad weather on Tuesday so they couldn't guarantee anything. I went home Wednesday night.
I absolutely needed to pump because my baby was born a preemie, wasn't coming home with me, and my ghetto hospital had no pumps to rent to me. It was stressful to deal with all of this after the birth but it worked out and I am hooked up to my pump right now. They did have a pump available to me as an in-patient that I used during my hospital stay.
Soooo, you can probably have 95% of the above crap done before you baby gets here. Then once he/she is born, call the equipment provider up and get the pump on its way and insist on overnight shipping!
