We had the jj cole bundle me with DS- but it has become so clear that you want nothing between the baby and the seat other than a thin layer of clothes that we tossed it and have the shower cap style now. It definitely keeps her warm.
It needs to have elastic around is and kind of fits "over" the car seat as opposed to in it.
Maybe I'm just being dense, but I'm not seeing the difference between these two. I've looked at pictures and nothing seems to go under the baby that I can tell. And some of the descriptions even say the JJCole one is a 'showercap' style so what am I missing?

The trick or know how that I read is that if you put the kid in the car seat with the coat, tighten appropriately, take them out without loosening, then put them in the seat without the coat and the straps are still tight enough, you are good.
